We were lucky to catch up with Becky Imbimbo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Becky, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The story behind The Always Busy Mama starts in 2020, a year that brought a whirlwind of change for me. I gave birth to my daughter and, like many new moms, faced significant postpartum depression. My company was going through an acquisition, and my husband, working in a demanding job, was putting in 2-3 nights of overtime each week due to COVID. I was a brand new mom, navigating the early days without family around to help, and felt overwhelmed by the weight of it all.
During this challenging time, I knew I needed to find something that brought me joy—something just for me. That’s when I turned to jewelry-making, a passion I’d had in my younger years. I started creating pieces as gifts and soon realized that this wasn’t just a hobby; it was my way of reconnecting with myself amidst the chaos.
The Always Busy Mama name came from that experience. It represents the balance between being a mom, running a business, and trying to find moments for myself in the busyness of life. It’s a reminder that, despite the constant movement, it’s important to make time for what lights you up. The name also reflects the many roles we juggle as moms—busy, yes, but always making time for what matters, even if it’s just carving out moments of creativity.

Becky, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the founder and creator behind The Always Busy Mama, a brand born out of my journey as a mom, maker, and business owner. In 2020, after the birth of my daughter, I faced significant postpartum depression while also juggling the stresses of a full-time job at a company going through an acquisition. My husband was working 2-3 nights of overtime each week due to the effects of COVID, and I found myself without family support in a new state, struggling to balance it all. During that difficult time, I turned to jewelry-making, something I’d always loved as a teenager, as a way to reconnect with myself and find joy again. What started as a hobby soon blossomed into a passion, and ultimately, a business.
In 2022, I discovered permanent jewelry, and it immediately sparked something in me. I saw the opportunity to offer something truly unique and meaningful to my customers. I was determined to make permanent jewelry a part of The Always Busy Mama and integrate it into my business. Permanent jewelry allows me to create lasting connections with my clients, offering them a piece of jewelry that symbolizes their personal stories and memories. It’s become an integral part of what I offer, and I’m thrilled to see how much my customers appreciate it.
In addition to growing the business, I’m incredibly proud that my daughter, Olivia, has now joined me in this journey. Watching her take on the role of stretch bracelet designer and seeing her excitement in being a part of something we’ve built together is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a beautiful reminder that The Always Busy Mama is not just about me, but about the values of family, connection, and growth that we hold dear.
The Always Busy Mama was founded with a simple yet powerful purpose: to create meaningful, handcrafted jewelry that helps busy moms and women feel empowered, connected, and balanced. I specialize in dainty gemstone jewelry, designed with life’s milestones and meaningful moments in mind. From the Moments & Milestones collection that celebrates personal achievements to permanent jewelry pieces that hold lasting memories, every design is made with intention and care. I use high-quality materials like AA and AAA-grade gemstones and 14K gold-filled chains, ensuring my creations are not only beautiful but also durable enough to withstand the everyday hustle of a busy mom’s life.
What sets me apart from others is my commitment to creating pieces that are both functional and meaningful. As a busy mom and full-time executive, I understand the importance of balance. The jewelry I make is crafted for women who want to look put together without sacrificing practicality. It’s jewelry that can be worn every day, through the chaos of motherhood and work, and still stand the test of time.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how my brand has resonated with women who value both style and durability. I’ve built a community of customers who appreciate the meaningful connections behind each piece, whether it’s a bracelet marking a milestone or a necklace worn for self-love and empowerment. I’m also proud of the growth I’ve experienced as a business owner, learning how to balance my creative passion with the logistical demands of running a business and working a demanding job in corporate, all while maintaining a commitment to my family.
For those who are considering working with me or following my journey, I want them to know that The Always Busy Mama is more than just a jewelry brand—it’s a reflection of my own experiences and the values that I hold dear. My work is about more than just the jewelry itself; it’s about creating pieces that help people celebrate their own moments and milestones. I am incredibly proud of the connection I’ve built with my customers and the supportive community we’ve created. My goal is to continue growing The Always Busy Mama, while maintaining the balance between family, work, and creativity that makes it all worthwhile.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most pivotal moments in my life came when I made the decision to move from Michigan to Connecticut after the divorce from my mentally and verbally abusive husband where the divorce left me with deep self-doubt and uncertainty. I struggled to trust myself in many aspects of life, feeling like I had been stripped of my confidence.
I moved to Connecticut to coach volleyball, hoping for a fresh start and an opportunity to rebuild my life. The transition wasn’t easy—leaving everything I knew behind and starting over in a new state, far from family and familiar surroundings, was overwhelming. But what I didn’t know then was that this move would ultimately lead to the most incredible change in my life: meeting my amazing husband.
Despite the deep-seated insecurities I carried from my past, I remained open to new experiences, and it was through this openness that I found someone who would become my greatest supporter and partner. My husband has been the pillar of strength I needed, and his unwavering belief in me helped me reclaim my confidence and push forward, not just in life, but in building The Always Busy Mama.
That pivot—moving to a new place, embracing change, and remaining open to new possibilities—was the turning point that ultimately led me to a brighter future. It was a difficult decision, but it brought me the life I have today. Sometimes, the hardest pivots lead us to exactly where we need to be, even if we can’t see it at the time. The journey to Connecticut was challenging, but it was exactly what I needed to rediscover myself and create the life and business I am so proud of today.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My jewelry business, The Always Busy Mama, hasn’t yet become a full-time endeavor, though it’s definitely something I’m working toward. I still work full-time as an operations executive for a healthcare marketing agency, where I help with process improvement, internal growth, and change management. It’s a role I love, and I have big aspirations there, including eventually becoming a COO.
That being said, The Always Busy Mama started as a side hustle in 2020, when I first turned to jewelry-making to help me cope with postpartum depression after the birth of my daughter. At that time, I was also juggling a demanding job and trying to balance family life, so starting my own business wasn’t a priority. But as I began creating jewelry, I realized it was something that brought me immense joy and fulfillment—something I wanted to keep pursuing.
In 2022, after discovering permanent jewelry, I knew I had to incorporate it into my offerings, and that’s when things really began to take off. Permanent jewelry allowed me to create a deeper connection with my customers, and the demand for this service grew quickly. As I expanded my product offerings, I also began focusing more on my online presence, especially through social media, where I connected with a community of like-minded women who valued high-quality, meaningful jewelry.
Some of the key milestones for The Always Busy Mama have been launching the Moments & Milestones collection, expanding into permanent jewelry, and refining my marketing strategy with the help of my amazing VA. Adding a virtual assistant to my team has been a game-changer, allowing me to focus more on the creative side of my business. I’m also in the process of hiring an event assistant to help manage the growing demand for in-person events and pop-ups, which is another exciting step toward scaling up.
While I haven’t yet taken The Always Busy Mama full-time, I’m incredibly proud of how far it’s come. The business continues to grow and thrive, and I’m looking forward to what the future holds—whether that means expanding my offerings, hitting new sales milestones, or maybe one day having the opportunity to pursue this full-time.
