We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Becki McKenna. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Becki below.
Becki, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job
Before I moved to Florida I was an Event Manager and Wedding Planner. This required an overwhelmingly amount of attention to detail and making sure the client was taken care of. I spent months planning an event down to the minute of when the guests would be finished with their meals. Having this background has taught me how to be incredibly detailed with organizing a space and communicating with my clients on what their expectations are. Being a wedding planner was a much bigger event but just as important as making a house flow with purpose and function.

Becki, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner of Happy to Help Organizing + Design LLC. I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Central Florida back in 2019.
Being a Professional Organizer is hands down the best job I have ever had. Since I can remember I was rearranging spaces, decluttering and trying to make my space feel more calm. I mean, even back in elementary school I remember writing an “about me” page and writing that organizing was my favorite hobby.
My services include organizing, staging and moving. Organizing is a very emotional task for some and I am there every step of the way. My process is simple – remove, sort, replace. I help clients let go of items they no longer use and create a less cluttered space to create simplicity in their home. The most important part of organizing is to make sure it can function and be maintained. I also help families stage their home to sell or just add the small details to make it feel like home when they have moved into a new space. The last service is packing and unpacking. I offer this locally and also travel out of state a for clients moving across the United States.
My clients range from busy moms, bachelors, seniors and career driven folks. I also work with clients that suffer from anxiety, depression, ADHD and just need that initial boost to get back on track with their space. I absolutely adore all of the clients I have worked with. Being able to help a person in the space they spend the majority of their time in is incredibly gratifying and something I will be forever grateful for. I love nothing more than seeing my clients sigh of relief when their space all makes sense. My absolute favorite is when I get texts with updates months later showing me their space is still organized and in tact!
For anyone reading this article – if you are thinking of how to simplify your space, don’t be afraid of letting an organizer in your home. We come with a judgement free mindset and at the end of the day, just want to help you. You shouldn’t feel alone on this journey and we will be with you every step of the way.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that not every space would function the same way. Getting into this organizing journey I thought everyone’s pantry would be laid out the same, or the closet would function the same way. I have now learned that some people base their outfit on their shirt, others their pants, etc. so every single job is different, which is AMAZING. I feel like my brain is constantly on when working on projects because it really is a new space every single time – no job is the same – no day is the same. I’m honestly so grateful for that because it makes each day different and a challenge!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Having to be resilient in my profession is something that happens often. I can’t say one specific moment comes to mind because I think a lot of unexpected occurrences happen when you are uncovering years of clutter in houses. It is something that I take with ease and bounce back quickly because organizing definitely keeps you on your toes!
