We were lucky to catch up with Beck Visuals recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Beck thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
In my opinion I don’t ask for support from anybody. I don’t expect support from anybody either, I’ve always felt like people support what they believe in. And I’ve always had a strong support system I’m very appreciative of that. Being an entrepreneur can be real rough trying to navigate but the support from others keeps me going
Beck, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started photography around 13 years old. Being from Atlanta I’m grateful I was exposed to the life I was. I was able to go downtown and shoot whatever I wanted while in high school and that time really helped me develop when I decided photography is what I wanted to do forever. As long as I’ve been shooting I didn’t start accepting clients until 2020, I use to think I didn’t like photoshoots until I realized how great photos can make people feel. Whether it’s a birthday dinner or a studio shoot being able to provide people with these great pictures is something I love and gives me a a feeling like no other. But photoshoots isn’t the only plans I have for my photography. Soon I will start releasing prints , merch, and my website will be up. My goal is to build beckvisuals as not only a photography but an art brand represented through physical and digital art.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My biggest lesson I learned early and wish more photographers would’ve. Is that sometimes you have to put the money to the side and accept work for less or even free. Most times when the opportunity is bigger then the price of that one shoot. It can take your career to a bigger step or make you even more money in the future.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
A lot of my bookings come from word of mouth not social media. I always do my best to be professional, work with the client to get them the look they wanted and in a timely manner. And because of that people have nothing but good reviews when it comes to my process of booking to shooting to receiving the pictures.
