We were lucky to catch up with Becca New recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Becca, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
How We Got Our Name:
Southern Soiree was born out of the union of two Louisiana-based stationery businesses—each with a shared passion for thoughtfully curated celebrations. As we combined our talents and vision, we knew we needed a name that captured more than just pretty paper. We wanted something that celebrated where we’re from, what we love, and what we do.
We spent hours tossing around ideas, searching for a name that felt like us—one that reflected not just custom invitations, but the full experience we offer: from beautifully designed paper goods to coordinating party details like cups, napkins, stir sticks, signage, and beyond.
Rooted in our Southern heritage and our love for hosting, entertaining, and all things charming, Southern Soiree felt like the perfect fit. It evokes the warm spirit of the South and the joy of a thoughtfully planned celebration. To keep that festive energy flowing, we even added playful “cheers” quotes to each product category—because every great soiree deserves a toast!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
What We Do
We are a full-service stationery and event goods studio that specializes in creating custom, cohesive suites for life’s most memorable events. Our products and services include:
* Custom wedding invitations and save-the-dates
* Day-of paper goods like programs, menus, and signage
* Personalized party goods such as foam cups, napkins, koozies, stir sticks, and gift tags
* Branded materials for businesses and corporate events
* Tailored design services for showers, birthdays, graduations, and more
We design with the full experience in mind—so every piece, from the envelope to the cocktail napkin, tells a consistent and beautiful story. Whether you’re planning a black-tie wedding or a backyard crawfish boil, we bring the same care, creativity, and Southern spirit to every detail.
The Problems We Solve
Planning a cohesive event can be overwhelming—especially when juggling multiple vendors for different elements. That’s where we come in. We provide our clients with one trusted creative source to handle all their visual details, ensuring everything coordinates perfectly, reflects their personality, and sets the tone for their celebration. Our clients come to us because they want more than generic—they want custom pieces that make their event feel thoughtful and elevated.
What Sets Us Apart
We believe our strength lies in our blend of design expertise, hands-on customer care, and true Southern hospitality. We don’t just sell paper or party goods—we guide our clients through the design process, offer creative direction, and infuse each order with a personal touch. Our backgrounds in design, event planning, and print production allow us to deliver both creativity and quality, while our shared Southern upbringing ensures we never lose sight of the warmth and charm that make an event unforgettable.
What We’re Most Proud Of
We’re incredibly proud of the trust our clients place in us—whether they’re ordering a single pack of party cups or trusting us with the entire design suite for their wedding. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built, the return clients we’ve earned, and the events we’ve helped bring to life. But most of all, we’re proud that we get to do what we love, together, in service of celebrations that matter.
What We Want You to Know
At Southern Soiree, we believe that every celebration deserves to feel personal and inspired. We love what we do—and we love helping others make their moments not just beautiful, but unforgettable. Whether you’re newly engaged, planning your baby’s birthday, throwing a tailgate, or organizing a business launch, we’re here to make your vision come to life with creativity, care, and a little sparkle.
We hope you’ll follow along, raise a glass with us, and let us help you celebrate—Southern style.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Without a doubt, word of mouth has been our greatest source of new clients. When you pour heart and detail into every order—whether it’s a full wedding suite or a fun set of party cups—people notice, and they talk about it. Friends tell friends, brides refer other brides, and hosts come back for every milestone worth celebrating.
Social media has also played a huge role, especially Instagram. It’s where we showcase our work, share behind-the-scenes, and connect with our audience in a more personal way. But really, nothing compares to a happy customer sharing their experience. That kind of trust and connection is something we’re really proud of, and it’s helped our business grow in the most organic and meaningful way.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was not valuing my time and custom work enough. In the beginning, I said yes to almost everything—especially custom projects—without fully accounting for how much time, energy, and creative effort they truly required.
I vividly remember one wedding suite in particular. It was a fully custom design with a very short turnaround time. I was honored to be trusted with it, so I said yes. But the reality was, it took an incredible amount of hours and creative focus, and I drastically undercharged. Everything else in my queue had to be pushed aside just to meet the deadline. It was incredibly stressful, and I realized afterward that I had essentially sidelined my entire business for one project—and barely broke even.
That experience taught me the importance of setting boundaries, charging appropriately, and truly valuing the work I do. Custom design is not just about producing something beautiful—it’s about the thought, time, and care that goes into making something truly one-of-a-kind. Since then, I’ve learned to price accordingly, manage timelines better, and protect the creative space I need to do my best work.
