We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Becca Mohler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Becca below.
Hi Becca, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is a series of children’s songs inspired by my experiences at Cal Heights Music, the music school I co-founded in Long Beach, CA. This project came about as I began to notice how music brought families together and sparked joy in young children during our baby, toddler, and preschool classes.
I wanted to create a collection of songs that not only are fun but also encourage exploration of the outdoors and foster a love for nature. Each song reflects my personal experiences with my own children, capturing the magic of our adventures in parks, forests, and the beach. The process of writing these songs allowed me to weave in concepts about nature, curiosity, and environmental stewardship, instilling values I hold dear.
What makes this project particularly meaningful is seeing how the music resonates with families, creating shared moments of joy and connection. Watching children sing along and dance has been incredibly rewarding, and it reinforces my belief in the power of music to inspire and nurture the next generation.

Becca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an indie folk singer-songwriter and my band is Little Coyotes. I am inspired by my experiences at Cal Heights Music, an all-ages music school in Long Beach, CA. Through our baby, toddler, and preschool classes, I discovered the profound impact of music on young children and their families. My original songs blend folk melodies with themes of adventure and nature, encouraging kids to explore and connect with the world around them.
What sets me apart is my approach, drawing from my own parenting experiences to create relatable and meaningful music. I’m proud of the community we’ve built at Cal Heights Music, where families come together to share in the joy of music and nature. Ultimately, Little Coyotes is a heartfelt invitation for children to embrace adventure and foster a love for the environment while creating memories through music.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to inspire and connect with others through music. Creating songs that resonate with children and their families brings me immense joy, especially when I see them singing along.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, it is is driven by a belief that music is for everyone and should be accessible to all. At Cal Heights Music, we strive to make music lessons affordable and inclusive, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from exploring their musical talents. Our free loaner program allows students to borrow instruments, making it easier for them to participate in lessons without the added stress of purchasing their own.
We truly believe that music is magic—it has the power to uplift, inspire, and connect people of all ages and backgrounds. Sharing that love of music with others is our passion, and our mission is to foster a welcoming environment where everyone can experience the joy of making music.
