We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Becca LaPage & Nicole Edmond a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Becca LaPage & Nicole Edmond, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting Parable itself was a risk, because from day one we chose to build a faith-based creative agency with a missional model. In business terms, it doesn’t really make any sense. We’ve intentionally narrowed our market instead of broadening it, and we know that some people will avoid working with us because of our beliefs. On top of that, we specifically designed our pricing to be accessible for churches, nonprofits, and startups which are often under-resourced and not known for having big marketing budgets. In many ways, we were walking away from the “safe” route of chasing higher-paying markets in order to serve the one that we feel called to.
It’s a risk because it means fewer opportunities, fewer grants or partnerships available to us, and at times, a slower path to financial growth. But it’s a risk we take with open eyes and open hands because this is our community. And while on paper it may look like we’ve “shot ourselves in the foot,” in practice we’ve been incredibly blessed. We’ve found that generosity runs deep in the faith-based world, and our clients are often the kind of people who pour back into us as much as we pour into them. At the end of the day, the risk feels worth it because we didn’t start Parable just to build a business, we started it to build up the community that we call home.

Becca LaPage & Nicole Edmond, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Parable Creative was born out of a frustration and vision that we felt for our faith community. Both of us grew up Christian, and we often wrestled with the disappointment that Christian media often felt cheesy, unorganized, or low-quality. Churches and nonprofits we loved were doing incredible work, but the way they presented themselves didn’t match the beauty or impact of their mission. It always felt like such a disconnect for us because our God is an artist, and everything around us reflects His excellence, so why should Christian organizations settle for anything less?
We also saw the deeper cost. When branding and storytelling aren’t done well, the impact of an organization gets diminished. A powerful mission can be overlooked simply because it isn’t communicated beautifully or with clarity. That reality pushed us to act. Historically, Christians were once leaders in art and beauty; the architects of cathedrals and composers of great works. Somewhere along the way, that creative spark got lost, and we felt called to help bring it back.
Parable was born when both of us were at pivotal moments in our careers, having both just left our jobs. We had worked together before and always wanted to start something together in the future. It was over chips and salsa at a cantina in San Antonio, the idea for Parable finally took shape. The work played so naturally into our strengths; Nicole’s creativity and Becca’s strategic mind. At the same time, we knew that big marketing firms often felt intimidating and out of reach for faith-based organizations, so we built Parable to be different: an agency that offers both excellence and accessibility.
We provide a full range of creative services to help churches, nonprofits, and businesses tell their stories with clarity and beauty. From branding (logos, product design, color palettes, typography, and full visual identity systems) to media production like videos and podcasts, we craft work in deep collaboration with our clients so their values shine through. We also offer ongoing marketing support, including social media consulting, email campaigns, and fundraising strategies, to ensure organizations reach their audiences strategically.
What sets us apart is our collaborative, boutique approach. We build close relationships, digging deep into a client’s values to guide every design decision. And because our model is missional, our pricing is intentionally accessible.
What we’re most proud of is seeing clients come alive when their mission is finally reflected with clarity and beauty. At the heart of Parable is this conviction: when we create with intention and excellence, we not only elevate organizations, we honor the ultimate Creator.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We’ve learned so much in our journey with social media, but the biggest lesson we’ve taken from it is the importance of authenticity. Every single follower we have is completely organic. We could have bought thousands of followers, but numbers were never our goal with social media. We wanted to create an online community that looks the same as it would if we hosted an in-person event.
Because of that, our following isn’t massive, but it’s really meaningful to us. The people who are with us are truly engaged. Proportionally, our reels and posts outperform industry averages, and we’ve secured clients through our social media presence. We’re really proud of that.
What’s worked for us is keeping it fun. We post things that make us laugh, that inspire us, and we use our platforms as a creative outlet. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we only engage with trends when they feel genuine to us. That authenticity translates and people can tell when you’re having fun versus just chasing views.
Our advice would be that it’s always better to build something real. Focus on quality over quantity, create content that you enjoy, and let your community grow naturally. It’s slower, but it’s stronger.

Any advice for managing a team?
For us, everything starts with relationships. We were all friends before we became coworkers in this capacity, so there was already a strong foundation of trust and genuine care. We simply enjoy each other and want to see the best for one another. Honesty, patience, grace, and support are the values we lean on to keep our bond strong.
We’ve also found that structure helps prevent conflict, so we’ve built systems to keep us organized and aligned. Since we all live in different places, we do a monthly call that always starts with prayer and a fun, creative activity. That intentional time helps us stay connected.
At the end of the day, we really love our team of four, and we want to create an environment where everyone feels supported and inspired. Keeping things light, having fun, and not taking ourselves too seriously gives us the energy to lock in and work hard when we need to.
