We were lucky to catch up with Beau Saga recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Beau thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been blessed with the opportunity to wake up everyday and work hard while, living in my truths. All of the proceeds I receive from Beau Saga’s creative work, sustains me personally.
From day one there was many obstacles and issues but everyday I grew more and more and learned tricks to the trade. I just had to remain focused and consistent; the. I began to strategize and work smarter.
Although this journey is tedious and truly a marathon, and at times harder more then most. The rewards are astounding and speak for themselves. One day I woke up and seen what was going on around me and in my country and wanted to be the change I wanted to see. I wanted to live, operate and work as a freeman and use my god given rights as a man to promote change while still be a staple in my community.
Every week is a wow moment for me. It’s never a dull moment. I went from being a popular Collegiate sports star to still feeling a need to express my self and leave more of an impression on the world. Into totally changing directions and shifting that momentum to music. Recording for days, practicing, getting on stage, then into being at showcases, to then rocking showscases and performances, to getting booked for local clubs, to now getting booked paid shows at festivals and such. The rate that I have been progressing still sometimes astonishes me, but meeting and working with Afro b is one of my cherished moments so far.
Beau, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I, Beau Saga am the number one African Artist on the planet. Chief Executive Officer of Sagaway Publishing and Sagawear apparel. I actively take part in every bit of everything. Marketing the music, to booking the gigs, putting together press kits, sending out newsletters keeping my fans engaged, and even a lil contract law. When it comes to Sagawear, I’m actually the one coming out with the designs for all the merchandise. I believe in knowing and understanding my business in every aspect. Actively practicing increasing productivity and engagement with my audience every step of the way.
What makes me most proud to call my self an artist/ businessman is that I understand my analytics and metrics of my art .
I want my potential audience to know that I’m in my own lane growing as a man and artist everyday.
I’m putting my heart, soul, sweat, blood and tears in to my music and designs. Also providing my audience with quality new technology in visuals designs and energy filled concerts. I want you to leave my presence feeling better then in which you came. In addition to all that, And if I did / can do it… it you can do it too.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Beau Saga is the number one African Artist on the planet. The Creator of AfroHop, this style is what sets me apart from any other artists out there. what I create and put out, is a feeling. And experience you cannot match and the way, unique to the user and impacts people differently.
And nfts are just that. Every NFT is unique in it’s creative design and cannot be duplicated, making them limited and rare. NFTs get their value because the transaction proves ownership of the art. I started this business to free myself and be able to share my self with the world this is another way to protect myself and see my worth just that much more. And the fact that my audience can own a unique piece of art that came “directly” from me is an even more powerful feeling for both parties. Inclines me to
Produce physical assets and collectible or access to exclusive perks, since they are difficult to forge or steal. Making sure I can retain the value in the brand like beau saga nfts are the present and future.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is the ability able to employ my community and see my art bring my community together in so many ways then one. To see the people around me flourish The gift that keeps on giving . I’m just thankful for the opportunity.
