Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Beau Payne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Beau thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I have spent over 10 years incarcerated due to drinking and poor choices. My final prison term was when I changed my entire trajectory of life and started to lay the foundation for a successful life when I was released, be it in business and my personal life.
My defining moment was when I truly found my purpose in life which would lead to my owning my own company, becoming a published author, speaking around the country, hosting my podcast, the Beau Payne Show and doing what I love to do best and that is fulfilling my role as a recovery / sober coach.
So I would say unequivocally, beyond a shadow of a doubt, when I learned that being of service to others would not only benefit others but also myself on many different fronts, I parlayed that into being a business owner and having a successful career.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Beau Payne and my life leading up to where I am today has taken many a twist and turn. My apologies now as the following may be a little jumbled and I’ve been a little late on responding to you all so want to get this to you asap !!
First and foremost, I am a recovering alcoholic and my main mission in life is to help other alcoholics and addicts overcome their obstacles, achieve sobriety and live their very best life.
I come from a troubled background and upbringing of all forms of abuse, extreme violence, addiction, homelessness, prison and much more but today I am a clean and sober man running my own company, The Beau Payne Group which consists of my being a published author, a podcast host of The Beau Payne Show, a motivational and Keynote speaker to businesses, corporations, treatment centers, athletic organizations, veterans groups, (I’m a US Army Infantry Veteran and a former MLB Draft Pick of the Florida Marlins in 1994), I’m a sober / recovery coach and more to the sober community.
Being that I was incarcerated for a total of 10.5 years, and as I said, an Army Veteran, also a MLB draft pick and a man who has 100 percent turned my life around, I have a unique platform to help others and to speak on many life experiences.
So when people ask me what industry I’m involved with, I generally tell them, “I’m in the Helping Business” but I suppose you could say it’s technically health, wellness and consulting.
I also sell merchandise ~ have a clothing line with my show logo and my motto, “live your best life” on certain items such as hats, teeshirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, accessories and more.
These days, I’m working on my coaching aspect of my career more than anything. My show is great, I love to speak to audiences and write but helping others get sober and reclaim their life is what I do best and that falls under my coaching.
I am someone who had a very tough life, I’ve been through things that would be unfathomable to most but these are the very things that have made me successful and the man I am today.
So, The Beau Payne Group and The Beau Payne Show are not just “for profit” entities; I would like to think they’re a symbol of hope for folks who have been down and out and need a lift to once again get back in the game of life.
Again, apologize for the drawn out and poor sentence structure !! On phone, away from my office and want to get this to you asap.
My life is an open book, there is a ton of information about me online if you ever need to corroborate or just want to know a little more about my life.
I appreciate you all thinking of me as Melanie Davis is a good friend and someone for whom I have deep admiration.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would 100 percent go back and choose this profession. Coming out of high school, I had all the billing in the world as a baseball player but as I’ve explained, my world took a drastically different turn than what I and many expected for me.
The lessons I’ve learned in life have been invaluable, especially through all the hard times and being able to do what I do professionally, to be able to pass on wisdom to others from my own lived experiences and most of all, to be able to help individuals get sober, find themselves through inspiring and helping others … I just think it’s absolutely priceless.
I believe unequivocally that I’m dong exactly what I was meant to be doing and if I had fulfilled my promise as an athlete and a professional one at that, I must likely would never had gotten the chance to help the people I help today.
I hope that make sense a little bit.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation is built upon total and complete honesty and authenticity. I live by a code that my dear friend and colleague John Sterling and I came up with …
Lean, Learn, Leverage …
I Lean into ALL of my life’s experiences, both past and present, I Learn from them and most importantly, I Leverage these experiences to help myself but more importantly to help others and that’s why I say I’m in the “Helping Business” when someone asked me what I do.
The things I talk about, the abuse, the hardships, all the wreckage of my past are all things necessary for me to be the best version of myself when it comes to helping others and running my company.
