We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Beatricia Sagar . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Beatricia below.
Beatricia , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My name is Beatricia Sagar, and I’ve been working on the “We Are All Connected Art Project,” which is made up of puzzle pieces since the beginning of COVID-19. It is a living conceptual work of art. I reach out to artists and friends on Instagram to do some form of art work on each puzzle piece and return them to fill a place in each 20-piece puzzle.
The project was created to be inclusive without any borders or boundaries. It has no reference to gender, ethnicity or political preferences. Each piece has a number that fits into a corresponding number in the puzzles. The magic is how well they fit, look, and blend together. There has been and is a generous response from artists who send beautiful, inventive, amazingly creative puzzle pieces. I then post the images on social media to create a continuous circle.
I now have over 2,500 puzzle pieces from about 55 countries. Almost all of the artists and friends involved send letters, sharing experiences and appreciation for being included.
The contemporary abstract works I’ve done are in major corporate collections. This includes, hotels, cruise ships, and about 20 Neiman Marcus stores, in addition to numerous private homes and offices.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Beatricia Sagar and have been doing artwork since I was very young. I am primarily self-taught, but studied at the Brooklyn Museum. Being an artist interested in selling my work without it becoming “commercial,” I’ve had to become aware of my audience. This requires a lot of interaction with them.
The individual who wants something for their home requires very personal interaction and advice as to size, location, and the nature of the interior design that has been chosen for an overall look. Many people are not so well-informed about art work and need a great deal of hand holding.
The corporate people (hotels, restaurants, offices, ships etc. ) are much more dependent on curators, budgets. and the input of the artist. We have to make proposals, and once the needs have been identified, be involved in every step, including on many occasions, installation.
The individual proprietor of an office is usually very interested in budget and how the painting will add to the look of the office and impress the client.
I am very proud of being able to fulfill the above needs. but also how often I am told the buyer involved continues to love my work.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The “We Are All Connected Art Project” is the first Conceptual project I have done. It is not-for-profit. I am doing it because I believe deeply that artists have a special voice. We are living in a time of division, where our social media allows us to see and experience wars, you versus me, hatred and prejudice, lack of consciousness in and of the world, and each person believing they are right and taking no responsibility for the their own participation. We hear very little of Love thy neighbors. The project is a testimony to the need for more ways to feel connected. My mission for this project is to find sponsorship, and potentially a not-for-profit that will continue to get the message out.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have been doing this since the beginning of COVID-19, supporting it with small donations and my own resources. Each puzzle piece I send out requires the cost of the puzzles, the envelopes, the postage to send and the stamped envelope for return, and frames for each 20-piece completed puzzle. I want to get my story out for myself, and my hope is to find a sponsor, but I also feel a responsibility to all the artists who have participated.
