We recently connected with BAYOUD TWINS and have shared our conversation below.
Soumaya, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Parents are very important in every child’s life, in our case, growing up we lost our dad at a very young age so our mom had to play the role of both parents hers as a mom and my dad’s role as well. Especially that she was left with ten kids to raise on her own, she did her best providing a stable and loving environment for all the ten of us, showing affection, spending quality time together, and providing financial and emotional support. However our dad was a really loving and caring father he did all he can to make all of us happy, sadly he left too soon we were eight years old when he passed away which negatively effected on our lives however this major change helped us become independent at a very young age, it was really tough and extremely hard growing up without father figure we went through a lot and we learned a lot at first we felt a sense of loss, sadness, and confusion, we were lacking financial and emotional support, guidance, and a sense of security from a male. our two older brothers were only 14 and 10 back then it wasn’t easy to see them as a positive male role models because they were also seeking that.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are the Bayoud twins Assia and Soumaya. We are Moroccan Youtubers, content creators and interior architecture students at Columbia College Chicago, we work as stylists / personal shoppers and closet organizers when we are off school. We also love to decorate, reorganize and renovate small spaces for our clients as a side hustle.
We were born and raised in Casablanca Morocco, we immigrated to the United States when we were 16 years old. We had the idea of moving to the states to live the AMERICAN DREAM but the reality was a lot different from what we expected, little did we know in order for anyone as an immigrant to live the AMERICAN DREAM they have to taste the nightmare of it before anything which could take longer than what’s expected, but with discipline and hard work you see great results. In the end this is the land of opportunities and you will eventually get to where you want if you put your mind to what you love and you work hard for it.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
We all know how building a clientele for a small business/ side hassle as stylists and personal shoppers could get really challenging, it takes a lot of time and consistent effort. Being content creators worked on our favor. We started using our social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Amazon storefront, and YouTube to showcase our styling expertise and attract a wider audience. We consistently share high-quality content, including outfit ideas, fashion tips, and style inspiration, to engage with our target audience. Another thing that’s really effective and helped us a lot was networking and collaborations we built relationships with other professionals in the fashion industry, such as fashion bloggers, photographers, models, and makeup artists. We’d collaborate on projects, cross-promote each other’s work, and participate in fashion events and workshops to expand our network. Networking can help you tap into new opportunities and gain exposure to a larger audience. Last but not least we personalize our clients experiences meaning that we provide different services like consultation, closet reorganization and personal shopping session with both of us which is very therapeutic for all our clients who tried with us, we try our best to provide a positive and memorable experience to them.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals a word of mouth recommendations from satisfied clients can be one of the most powerful sources of new clients. In our case we encouraged our existing clients to refer us to their friends, family, and colleagues who may be interested in our services. On another hand as we mentioned earlier social media is a game changer when it comes to marketing, it helped us a lot get new clients, we share tips and tricks, and engage with potential clients. We utilise high quality visuals, relevant hashtags, and consistent posting to attract followers and generate interest. Network, network and network by attending so many events in the fashion industry, and local fashion gatherings we network with other professionals in the industry, we built connections that also helped spread the word.
