We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bayley Ramos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bayley below.
Bayley, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I always wanted to open a consulting company specializing in Marketing. After graduating college I worked as a business manager and in sales, taking any opportunity that came my way. I assumed it would take years to reach my dream of owning my own company. After a few months and working hard in jobs that were not rewarding financially or with much room to grow I started to question the direction I was going.
In the end of 2009, I applied for a marketing position and was blessed to have an opportunity to work as a contractor for the company. This allowed me to do what I love with the freedom to pursue other opportunities. The next few years were challenging but I networked as much as possible, sought out ways to help in marketing projects (even if it was not financially rewarding), and took on any marketing opportunity. It was 3 or 4 years until I finally had a consistent amount of projects to give me the confidence to open my company.
I had to figure out how to manage existing projects while actively pursuing new opportunities. I had to learn how to provide valuable services that business owners would be happy, or rather excited to pay us to handle rather then sell them a service they don’t know if they want.
This was not always easy with daily challenges, but I always had peace since I was doing exactly what I was called to do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients is word of mouth. You are your best marketing tool. Be a resource. Be known as someone that LOVES what you do and LOVES to help others. I want to share my gift of marketing by helping others with their marketing challenges. Whether they hire me for years to come or I can just help them by answer a question – I love being able to do what I do. Each time I meet someone and develop a relationship with them, they see first hand that I truly do like to help others and they will remember that when they come across an opportunity.
The best opportunities come up unexpectedly – and most often someone I know will reach out and say “My friend/Neighbor/Family Member/etc. needs help with their marketing, can I give them your number?”. This has kept my business flourishing for over 8 years.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
It depends on the relationship as some prefer phone calls over texts, some like to email, but by knowing your clients and contacts and making sure you think of them as people. We are all busy but investing in relationships – showing that you genuinely care – is priceless. Anyone can provide a service, but not anyone is you. You build trust and a relationship with your clients that let’s them know they are supported and their business needs are important.
