Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bastardo’s Adventures. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bastardo’s, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Bastardo was gifted to me by the family of my deceased boyfriend, Ben, as a present. My late love’s family knew that I liked to run around to see shows, festivals, museums, etc. and I would often send his mother photos from my excursions. Growing up, I was a fan of Flat Stanley, the boy who was flattened and lived his life traveling from place to place. When Ben’s aunt made Bastardo for me, I instantly thought of how fun it would be for him to become, in concept, my Stanley.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Bastardo’s mission is to spread joy, friendship, and to live in the moment. His Instagram profile has served as a dumping space for all of our adventures, big and small. I’ve benefited in my own mental health by running his page, as he reminds me that there are so many potential adventures to be enjoyed. Everything from traveling to music festivals, to trying out a new restaurant, or even just sitting and enjoying a root beer float on our porch, we live every moment. On top of it all, Bastardo’s greatest adventure isn’t a destination or specific place, it is all the smiles and friends that we have made along the way!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Life is full of setbacks, stress, and heartbreaks. All we can do, is to do our best. This is why it is important to live in the moment. At the end of the day, the end of every adventure, this is Bastardo’s goal. There are countless beautiful opportunities to enjoy the little things in life, for as long as we just look for them.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of Bastardo’s Adventures is when he inspires others. Sometimes, when he is noticed, it tends to be for saying something kind or helpful, like when he leaves Google reviews for all of the little places he goes. Other times, he is noticed for being present, like at music festivals where he is happy to get a photo with performers or new friends. It is also rewarding to do our part for upcoming artists and small businesses by drawing more attention to them, as well. Kindness isn’t just free, it repays you.
