We were lucky to catch up with Bäsmini Hayes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bäsmini, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The Emergencies Project. I feel it’s my favorite by far because of the amount of emotion, work, and thought that goes into creating the entire thing. It’s my most open-minded, sentimental, and overall beautiful piece I’ve created.
It taught me to start creating music for myself, and to stop reaching for greed and views and start being more appreciative. It’s all about patience, growth, and being myself while remaining humble and down to earth.
Though the project is still building up, Emergencies and As you should are tracks I got to test the waters with and start expanding my sound and audience.
Bäsmini, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well hello! I’m Bäsmini of course. Music was a surprise hobby that I ended up loving so much. It was an escape, a constant goosebump feeling… Discovery of yourself within the boundaries of tunes and melodies. I’ve always wanted to build more on my startup company, Pulsar, but trying to find myself through cars wasn’t something that came easily. I released my first single End of Time with Kaya Jade in 2020, and as of 2023 I’m on my 6th single As you should, which was released February 14th!
The people I’ve worked with, and of course myself, always put a lot of thought into the lyrics, beat, and tons more details to produce the most unique sound possible.
I’m most proud of the journey I’ve gone through, and still continue to go through, and being able to be so open and creative with new emotions and life in general. It’s a never ending story, and everything about it is kinda cool.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is discovering new things about myself. I’m still learning more about my own voice as I make more and more music… It’s all a learning experience, and as time goes you’ll keep on taking in more and more.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I feel like audiences that are supporting independent artists should buy directly from the artist! Streams only give so much of the revenue to the artist, and so using their sites, cash apps, merch, etc… Invests directly into the artist!
