Bashir, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

To be successful it takes discipline, dedication, perseverance and LOTS of hard work. Their is no easy way you can’t skip around putting in the hard work to become successful knowing YOUR personal definition of success is important in setting realistic goals that are attainable and measurable. Also being transparent and self aware is key, if you know that you procrastinate often set reminders or create a task chart to keep you on track. I personally balance a lot and can get sidetracked easily as I wear many hats I am a student, an uncle, a godparent, a son, a friend and lastly a business owner. Balancing daily tasks can be overwhelming at times, however I cannot simply take a day off as the show must go on. I have short term goals to be met before I can reach my long term goals that’s when that discipline and dedication comes into play and that’s when you start to taste a bit of success. I always say stay focus and remember to celebrate the small wins because it’s those small wins that keep you motivated and help get you to the finish line.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I started out cleaning as an adolescent I would do odd jobs for my grandmother and she’d pay me an allowance. Fast forward to my 20’s I still had a knack for cleaning so I’d help my friends with household chores anything from folding laundry to washing dishes and it became a regular thing I’d clean and they’d pay me. One day I decided hey this is becoming lucrative why don’t I make this “thing” official. So I brainstormed and came up with a trade name, registered all appropriate documents with my state and One Man And A Bucket Cleaning LLC was born and booming! Covid 19 was at its peak during this time so I thought of ways to market my business and eventually began offering sanitizing spray services for essential businesses that wanted to reopen safely for their clients. Shortly after residential clients began booking the service to keep their families safe and today it is a permanent service on our extensive list of offerings. One Man And A Bucket Specializes in deep cleaning and sanitizing. We offer floor sanitizing through steam treatment, sanitizing spray services for businesses such as daycares, beauty salons, barbershops, boutiques and more! Additional offerings include Interior auto detailing, upholstery spot cleaning and carpet shampooing.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Word of mouth client referrals primarily helped me to build my reputation within the cleaning market. However social media specifically Instagram also assisted with building my reputation as I am able to post before and after photos of projects for potential clients to see my work. I am also able to interact with clients and keep them updated on promotions, new offerings as well as direct clients to my booking page which listed is in my profile bio.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

My Groupon Merchant account has proved to be an influential source in gaining new clients. I sold 3 Interior detailing vouchers in one day after only having my coupon live on the site for less than 24 hours. I obtained a White House employee as my client who purchased the 3 vouchers for her vehicle, her daughter’s vehicle and also her sons vehicle. Those 3 sales all from one client landed me a residential cleaning contract with the same clients daughter after performing the detailing as they were pleased with my work and lead to the mom retaining me as the primary cleaner for her and her husbands home as well.
