We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Barbara Joy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Barbara below.
Hi Barbara, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
The one thing my parents did right, especially my mom, was to always teach me, to never settle for less. Always thrive to achieve more and want more. Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do, and ALWAYS be kind.
I think the main thing that stuck out for me with my parents/parent, was their ability to always come out on top, no matter what obstacles were thrown their way.
I’ve seen my mom go through tons of struggles, and still come out on top. She always found a way to turn a negative into a positive. She never gave up. No matter how easy it was for her to give up, she pushed through and prevailed.
I take those memories and life lessons with me, in everything I do. Especially work. Work sometimes can be stressful and overwhelming, but I always remember the strength my mom had in her struggles, and that is the only thing that gets me through tough times.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, my name is Barbara Joy-Perez. I’m 28’years old. I’m from Chicago, but live in Memphis, TN.
I am a Customer Service Rep for a bank. I got into this job, because I love helping people and being a quick thinker.
I handle people that are on disability, bank accounts that are issued by the state.
I also am a small content creator. I mostly take pictures of myself and anything that I may be doing or find interesting.
I love showing my lifestyle and the lifestyle around me. People enjoy viewing my content and liking it.
I think what sets me apart from others is that, I’m being myself. Im not trying to be fake or just post content because it’ll make me money. I thoroughly enjoy creating.
The thing I want followers/fans to know, that everything you see is genuine on my pages. And that I am no better than anyone else, and if you get inspired from my content, then go for it! The world is yours and no one can stop you from succeeding.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn, was to stop caring about what others say and think about you. Their opinions are just that, their opinions. So it doesn’t matter what they say or think, because at the end of the day, their thoughts and voices will not change your future.
Backstory is, when I was growing up, I used to really be insecure and shy. Back in middle school, kids would make fun of me for no reason. Basically bullying me, to a point where I thought very little of myself, and would care what they thought and would say. The only person that helped me through that was my mother, who taught me to hold my head high, and that those kids were only reflecting what they see in themselves and at home.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
My view of NFT’s is that it should be a way that the general public can understand the inner working of it as a whole.
There are a lot of people who are really confused and don’t know where to start at all.
