Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Barbara Hidalgo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Barbara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I can define the defining moment in my life as the moment where after having a career and a talent that defines me, I am a psychologist and violinist. My country Venezuela in one of the most worthwhile institutions “el sistema” where I had the opportunity to develop myself as a person, make incredible friends and see places that I would not change for anything at the same time I was able to study a career where I worked for several years and enjoy.
After the situation that Venezuela is suffering, I was forced to leave my country, which meant leaving my disciplines. At that moment, my decision to decide where other people were enunciated and opt for other solutions began. I continued working to achieve my dreams!
I began to dedicate myself to the hospitality in diferents places, positions and hours, which has allowed me to have a different perspective on life and for which I am currently fighting to turn my immigration story into an example for other people.
Among my future steps will be Being able to exercise my career in psychology and at the same time continue my career in music.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Through my instagram I show my life, travels, style of clothes that I usually wear, my fragile, happy moments and those that are not so much! I seek to show in the most authentic way possible what it is like to continue obtaining opportunities day by day and how to motivate my community on the platform to be in the face of every obstacle in life!
Basically I show my experiences so that others can learn and motivate themselves at the same time.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My immigration history is full of many ups and downs that have put my resilience to the test, where I have learned to get ahead with my willpower and perseverance, which define me as a person.
I learned that you are capable of achieving everything you set out to do in your life and recognize your value as a person!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I unlearned to expect things from other people and not to set false expectations, having as a back story the tireless struggle to survive which has become the beginning of achieving the goals set.
