Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Barbara Gonzales. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Barbara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the most significant risks I’ve taken was transitioning my business from a general focus on organizing to honing in on creating a digital organizing planner. For years, I’d been helping people organize their lives, offering guidance, and tips. But as I worked, I realized that creating a digital planner, something that could serve as a daily tool and provide consistent value, would not only help people in a tangible way but also give my business a clear and distinctive focus.
The shift was daunting. It meant redirecting time, energy, and resources to develop the Wonderfully Made Home Organizing Planner and hoping it would resonate. I was used to interacting with clients one-on-one, which had a predictable rhythm, but creating a digital product felt like entering unknown territory. There were moments when I questioned if narrowing my focus like this was the right choice. Would people see the value? Would they be interested in a digital tool for home organization?
We poured months into designing the planner to make it as interactive and accessible as possible, even allowing people to use it on their phones and computers. It was important to me that this product not just organize spaces but provide peace and clarity to my clients. When launch day came, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. Would this risk pay off?
The response didn’t turn out as I had hoped initially, but the experience taught me valuable lessons. Some customers appreciated the digital format, and the planner found its way into homes that valued organization, but the journey is still unfolding. In taking this risk, I learned that business isn’t always a sprint; it’s a marathon. Risks don’t always yield instant rewards, but they lay the groundwork for future success. I’m committed to growing and refining this product, knowing that as I continue to learn and adapt, I’ll move closer to reaching my goals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the creator of the Wonderfully Made Home Organizing Planner, a digital tool designed to help people organize their homes and lives. My journey into this field started with a deep passion for organization and a belief that a well-organized space can bring peace, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose to everyday life. Over time, I found myself helping others with their organizing struggles—friends, family, even new clients. I loved seeing how a few changes could make such a positive difference in people’s homes and routines, and I knew I wanted to build a business around it.
The Wonderfully Made Home Organizing Planner was born out of my desire to provide a tool that clients could use independently, at their own pace, and in a way that’s easy to incorporate into daily life. The planner is designed to be flexible, interactive, and accessible on both phones and computers. I wanted it to be something that truly supports users in building organizing habits, rather than just offering one-time advice. I believe in creating products that not only solve a problem but empower people to transform their homes into spaces that feel refreshing and manageable.
What sets my work apart is that I focus on practical and easy-to-use solutions. My approach is all about simplicity and sustainability, and the planner reflects that philosophy. I also provide tips, insights, and encouragement along the way, so clients feel supported, even if they’re using the product independently.
For anyone considering my planner or interested in home organization, I want them to know that this is more than a planner; it’s a guide and a companion for creating spaces that feel both functional and nurturing. My ultimate goal is to make home organization accessible, empowering, and something that brings genuine relief and happiness into people’s lives.

Have you ever had to pivot?
This summer, I took a big leap by launching a Kickstarter to fund the printing of a physical version of the Wonderfully Made Home Organizing Planner. I was excited about bringing a tangible, beautifully designed planner to life, and I put a lot of effort into creating a campaign that I hoped would resonate with supporters. But when the campaign didn’t meet its funding goal, I knew I had to pivot.
While it was disappointing, it opened the door to another opportunity. Rather than let the planner remain a dream, we decided to shift our focus and offer it as a digital product instead. This pivot allowed us to move forward quickly and make the planner accessible to a wider audience, as it can now be used on phones and computers. The digital format also offered unique advantages I hadn’t fully realized before, like interactivity and portability, which turned out to be a positive thing for our users.
This experience taught me a lot about resilience and adaptability. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned, but if you’re willing to pivot and embrace new directions, you can still find ways to reach your goals.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. Personal recommendations from satisfied customers have brought a steady stream of new clients. While social media has been useful for sharing updates and reaching a broader audience, it hasn’t been my main driver for client growth.
When people hear directly from others who have found value in what I do, it creates an authentic connection and trust that’s hard to replicate online.
