We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Barbara Balderas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Barbara below.
Alright, Barbara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a client that you appreciate them?
Appreciation is demonstrated when you consistently deliver results for your clients, year after year. However, we also prioritize giving back to the community through various initiatives such as raffles and complimentary services to those in need. Serving my community has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. Giving back to them reminds me of when I was in need and received help from strangers. I know it was life-changing when someone did something for me in a time of need; therefore, I know first hand the relief of getting the correct assistance to solve a significant problem.
Barbara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Papeles Y Mucho Mas began as a needs-based operation on my kitchen table during the pandemic, with all services managed using my phone. The name translates to “papers and much more” in English. I envisioned expanding into a one-stop shop, and the business has since grown to offer Notary services, Preparation of immigration documents, Tax services, and various applications. Plans include incorporating health and life insurance services. The company’s success has resulted from hard work. Initially, I worked long hours seven days a week to meet client needs. Papeles Y Mucho Mas values customer satisfaction. Our motto, “changing lives one approval at a time,” reflects our commitment to making dreams come true.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building trust with clients is crucial for any startup company. Everything was shut down when I started due to a COVID-19-related state law mandate. I understood that earning trust, especially over the phone, was challenging. To address this, I devised a plan: I decided to provide my services free of charge until the benefit was received. This approach guaranteed the client that I would only benefit if they received their service. This plan gained momentum quickly. One client referred another client to us, and as a result, we processed thousands of applications.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool, and I have seen its tremendous impact. I am proud to say that over 80% of our customers come to us based on glowing recommendations from previous satisfied customers.
