We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Banjo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Banjo below.
Banjo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
When you create using pseudonyms like Banjo, Kid Porcelain and Uncle Popcorn – and build things called Tasty Nuggets, Toilets in the Wild and Film Reviews in a Snack – not being immediately understood tends to be built into the cake.
That said: have always believed it is on the storyteller to communicate clearly and succinctly. Banjo never apologizes for the raised eyebrows. Trying new things – and explaining those new things – often requires a fresh twist. The hope is that once a successful connection has been made, statements that once caused confusion (like describing your platform as a text-pic-vid-Social Media bouillabaisse and a link-a-rama for the click-ably curious) will morph into more favorable terms like singular, next gen and lovably unconventional.
To that end, Banjo sets out each time hoping to knock the tinsel off the town. Tasty Nuggets is the blog style portal that showcases the observations and insights from his Hollywood walkabouts. If the mood strikes – go for a scroll.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Banjo is that Hollywood guy. An Observationalist. He knows the city well, but loves to get lost in it. His large collection of “In Hollywood – 💯” posters are a series of original pics topped with local truisms. They capture an insiders understanding and encapsulation of the LA landscape, while also serving as an initial introduction to helping others present their Hollywood projects.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As with most things, Banjo looks to the streets for inspiration. Unfortunately, it’s impossible not to notice the homeless situation here in Los Angeles these days. Wanted to create a series of talk and tips that helped call attention to the resilience of those living on the streets, while also offering advice to others who may soon be in a similar position. Also hoped to create an outlet for someone who might normally not be heard by giving them a chance to elevate themselves as an expert.
‘Out There In Hollywood’ is a series of conversations with Danny James Moore – on the streets since 1986. Believe his homeless journey – and his resilience – are a source of perspiration and inspiration that can be used to help keep our own trains on the tracks.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To use the rich landscape of the Hollywood backdrop to showcase Banjo’s skills as both a creator and collaborator. And to continually explore new and exciting opportunities with like-minded folks.
“Hey Sharks!” is a fresh piece that attempts to sew an entire creative journey into a single story. It includes a quick introduction to the potential of each project and is an example of a newly created multimedia digital script presentation format.
