We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bailey Skaggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bailey below.
Hi Bailey, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
After earning my Advanced Esthetics License six years ago, I started my career working in MedSpas. At first, it felt like I was living my dream. I was gaining the knowledge and experience I thought I needed to advance as a Medical Esthetician. But as time went on, I began to feel disillusioned. My work consumed my life—8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, following the same facial protocols on repeat. It was draining, repetitive, and uninspiring.
During this time, I embarked on a personal self-healing journey. I started shifting my perspectives—how I thought, lived, and acted. That transformation bled into my work life, and I came to a tough realization: I wasn’t happy. I felt stuck in a never-ending loop, with no room for growth. So, I sat with myself and asked the hard questions. What did I love about my job? What didn’t I love?
I discovered that I love helping people. When I can make someone’s day or week a little better, it fills me with purpose. But I also realized that the MedSpa environment didn’t align with my values or the direction I wanted my career to take. That’s when I started researching holistic skincare and learning about alternative approaches to treating the skin.
This research sparked something in me, and eventually, I decided to take the leap. In June 2022, I opened Charmed Esthetics Holistic Facials & Reiki. Today, I’m not only an Advanced Licensed Esthetician, but also a certified Reiki Master. Through time, patience, and a lot of self-discovery, I carved out my own niche in the beauty and wellness industry—combining Reiki and facials into one seamless, transformative experience. My goal is to help people feel beautiful and empowered from the inside out.
I love the freedom of being able to create my own protocols, focus on my clients’ specific needs, and offer treatments that not only improve their skin but also support their inner healing. That level of connection and customization is something I couldn’t achieve in a more traditional setting.
But being a business owner hasn’t been easy. There were moments in the past two and a half years—especially during slower seasons—when I questioned everything. I’d ask myself: Is this worth it? Should I just play it safe and go back to a steady paycheck? I even thought about going back to waitressing, like I did during esthetics school, just to make ends meet.
Those were tough times. I spiraled into self-doubt, wondering if I was failing. But I held onto the hope, the vision, and the belief in what I was building. I reminded myself daily that my unique blend of Reiki and facials was something the world needed to experience. And so, I kept going.
Now, every single day, I thank myself for taking that leap of faith. The struggles were worth it. Not only have I grown as a business owner, but I’ve also evolved as a person. I had to do a lot of inner healing and self-reflection to build the confidence I have today. The challenges shaped me, and they’ve made the successes even sweeter.
So yes, I’m much, much happier as a business owner. The freedom, fulfillment, and ability to create something truly meaningful far outweigh the tough moments. And as difficult as it was at times, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Bailey Skaggs and I am the owner of Charmed Esthetics Holistic Facials & Reiki. I have created a space where self-care, healing, and skincare comes together. My journey into this work started over six years ago, and like many, it was a tough journey. I began my career as an esthetician in the medical side of skincare, but as I spent more time in that world, I became increasingly disappointed with the toxic beauty standards and the pressure to conform to them. My personal life aligned with more holistic perspectives and outlooks, so naturally I was not happy in the MedSpa environment. Although I was unhappy in my environment, I still loved what I did. I was lost and confused. I sat with what gives me hope, what I love about being an esthetician and why I became one in the first place. I came many realizations – I love helping my clients feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. I love helping others feel empowered. I love to help clients feel as relaxed as can be in a busy, always moving society and I absolutely LOVE the smile on every clients face when they see their skin glowing and healthy! So, I knew I needed to make a shift—to find a path where I could help people feel good, not just look good. So, in 2022, I opened Charmed Esthetics, with a focus on relaxing, holistic facials. As I evolved into this new journey of holistic facials, I realized something bigger was happening than just an average, facial. After my facial sessions, my clients would be in such a relaxed, almost meditative-like state of mind, I knew in my gut something bigger was happening. Luckily, I had amazing mentors and teachers (who would also get facials from me and confirmed my natural healing gifts) that walked me through what was happening. I am a natural gifted, intuitively guided, healer. As I started to explore this path, I had the idea of combining skincare with energy work. I started my studies into energetic healing, I took courses such as shamanic drumming and tuning forks to incorporate sound healing into my practice, crystal trainings to enhance the power of energy for my clients, and my journey with becoming a Reiki Master, which consisted of 3 workshops, spread out at least 10-12 months, Reiki I, Reiki II, and Reiki Master III. Throughout the years of study I slowly started incorporating little things into my facials to begin the transition to energy healer and esthetician. I am now offering a variety of different services that seamlessly incorporates Reiki and energy work into every Facial Experience.
My specialty is a truly unique and creative experience, seamlessly combining a facial with an energy healing session and is called The Reiki Facial. It is a combination of my signature facial with Reiki and other energy healing practices. Both the facial and the Reiki, all working simultaneously together, creating a deeply relaxing, restorative and healing experience. It’s about more than just skin—it’s about nourishing your mind and soul, too. I believe true beauty comes from within, and when we honor our bodies, our energy, and our needs, we can truly glow.
I also offer a variety of relaxing Facial Experiences that all include a Marma (energy points) special massage, crystal tools to enhance energetic healing. I partner with Green Envee Plant Active Skincare, Body Care & Essential Oils for my facials, so everything I use is natural. I love the holistic philosophy of this skincare line, they only use organic farms to derive their ingredients. I get effective, amazing results from my clients, I get feedback like, “My skin looks so much healthier!” and “My friends and family are starting to notice and ask what I’m doing differently to my skin!”. Green Envee’s Body Care & Essential Oil Blends are also perfect for enhancing my luxury Facial Experiences.
I offer Reiki Sessions and Chakra Alignments, without the skincare included as well. Reiki is beneficial for stress, anxiety, grief, aches, pains and headaches, overthinking and eliminating daily life stressors.
In 2025, I will be offering a new dynamic to my practice! I will be offering Reiki Workshops and Attunements for those who want to become Reiki Practitioners! I’ve always had a passion for teaching and cannot wait to be able to teach what I love to do!
What sets me apart from others is the way I approach beauty and wellness. I see skincare as a practice of self-care and love. I educate my clients on how to best take care of their unique skin type from the comfort of their own homes, I offer tips and tricks on how to intertwine at home skincare routines with self-care routines. The combination of esthetics and energy work isn’t something you’ll find everywhere, and it’s this blend that makes my treatments so special. I’m most proud of the community I’ve built—clients who feel safe, heard, and truly cared for. That’s what it’s all about for me: creating a space where people can let go of the stress, reconnect with themselves, feel empowered and leave feeling better than when they came in.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and Charmed Esthetics, it’s that this is a place where you can step out of the chaos of life and into a space of calm and tranquility. It’s a space for healing, for peace, and for taking care of yourself, not just on the outside, but on a deeper level. I’m here to help in both your skincare journey as well as your self-healing journey!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Right before I decided to go to esthetics school, I was taking classes at a local community college. I was unhappy, failing, and honestly just going through the motions because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do—for my parents, for my future, and because everyone around me was doing the same. I was blindly following a path that didn’t feel right for me.
After months of reflection, weighing the pros and cons, I decided to drop out of community college and enroll in esthetics school. It wasn’t a decision I made lightly, and at first, I kept it to myself, sharing only with my best friend. I even visited the school in secret, researching and planning my future on my own terms. I was excited and ready to share my decision with my parents, but their reactions were not what I had hoped for.
Although my parents are divorced, they were surprisingly aligned in their disapproval. They saw me as just another “college dropout going to beauty school,” and I could feel the weight of their disappointment. It crushed me. I was so excited about this new chapter, only to be met with criticism and judgment that made me question myself. I overheard conversations where they doubted my choice, calling it unsustainable and predicting my failure.
It was devastating. Of course, I wanted to make my parents proud—I think we all do—but I also knew in my gut that esthetics was the right path for me. After long, difficult conversations and plenty of tears, I realized that their approval didn’t define me. This was my life, and I had to live with the career I chose. I wanted to make decisions based on my own dreams, not theirs.
Our parents often hold onto an image of who they think we should be, and it can be hard for them to let go of that. It took my parents a long time to come to terms with my choice, but I chose to move forward anyway. Their doubts, while painful, became fuel for me. In the beginning, I worked hard just to prove them wrong, but over time, my motivation shifted. Through inner healing, I realized I wasn’t doing this to prove my worth to anyone—I was doing it for myself and the people I wanted to serve.
Stepping off the conventional path wasn’t easy. It brought judgment and criticism, but it also built resilience. When it felt like the world was against me, I stayed true to myself, dreams and goals. That leap of faith taught me that it doesn’t matter what others think about the choices you make. What matters is trusting yourself and having the courage to pursue what you know is right for you.
Looking back, I’m so grateful I had the resilience to navigate those hard times. If I had stayed on the traditional college path, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I’m proud of my journey, my growth, and my accomplishments—and that’s what truly matters.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, my mission has become deeply personal to me over the years. It all began almost four years ago when I embarked on what I call my Enlightenment Self-Discovery Journey. Most people might recognize this as a spiritual awakening.
Spiritual awakenings or self-discovery journeys can be incredibly empowering—sometimes even magical. But they also come with a shadow side that isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. It’s hard work to face the parts of yourself that are difficult to confront, to break free from unhealthy habits and patterns that have been deeply ingrained over time. These automatic reactions and perspectives can feel so natural that we don’t even realize they’re holding us back.
During my journey, I had to unlearn many unhealthy behaviors and beliefs. This process wasn’t easy—it was messy and uncomfortable. But I was fortunate to have an amazing support system to help me navigate those challenges. As someone with a fiercely independent personality, I had fallen into the habit of thinking I could do everything on my own—even healing. Spoiler alert: I was wrong! There were many things I couldn’t move through alone, like healing from past traumas, inner child work, and managing my anxiety and depression.
Fast forward three or four years, and I’ve come such a long way. While the process was hard, the growth has been incredible. I’m more comfortable in my own skin, I’ve developed tools to navigate anxious or low moments, and I’ve become more self-disciplined. I had to release limiting beliefs that were instilled in me from a young age, and that created space for a much freer, happier, and more authentic version of myself.
This journey ignited a passion in me to help others going through similar struggles. My mission became clear: to create a safe space where people can heal, grow, and evolve into the best versions of themselves. I want to help others find the confidence to take leaps of faith, follow their dreams, and trust their intuition. I want them to know they don’t have to do it all alone.
My goal is to make others’ journeys as seamless as possible by sharing tips, tools, and insights that I wish I had when I started. That doesn’t mean spiritually bypassing pain or emotions; in fact, I’m a firm believer that we must feel to heal. By acknowledging and moving through suppressed emotions, we can create space for authenticity and pure happiness—whatever that looks like for each individual.
Helping others navigate their own paths of healing and self-discovery is at the heart of my mission. Knowing that my journey can inspire or resonate with someone else reminds them they’re not alone, and that’s the most fulfilling work I could ever imagine.
