We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bailey Robinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bailey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
As a professional in the beauty industry, I firmly believe that demonstrating appreciation to clients is essential for building strong relationships and fostering loyalty. I employ various strategies to express my gratitude, depending on the specific context and client preferences.
For instance, I maintain a cabinet stocked with high-quality travel-size products, product samples, elegant hair clips and scrunchies, as well as premium hand creams. I offer these as small tokens of appreciation for their loyalty and patronage.
However, I recognize that mistakes can happen, and owning up to them is crucial for maintaining trust with clients. Whenever I make a mistake, I take full responsibility and quickly rectify the situation at no extra cost. I take pride in resolving any issues to ensure that clients are satisfied with my service, which builds trust and demonstrates my commitment to their satisfaction.
Lastly, I understand that clients’ time is valuable, and unexpected scheduling conflicts can arise. To show my appreciation for their flexibility and understanding, I prioritize timely and transparent communication and offer flexible rescheduling options, including opening up my off days or offering a complimentary service as a gesture of goodwill.
Overall, these gestures of appreciation demonstrate my dedication to providing exceptional client service and contribute to building lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a highly skilled hair artist specialized in providing top-notch hair services including blonding, extensions, and travel hairstyling. My career in this industry began at a very young age, as I went to cosmetology school while still in high school, graduating in 2018 and became a licensed cosmetologist.
One of my top priorities is building strong connections with my clients. I take pride in collaborating with them to develop customized hairstyles that accentuate their features, suit their lifestyle, and align with their personal style. Whether it’s adding length and volume with extensions or creating a bright blonde, I always put my clients’ needs and preferences first.
In addition to offering exceptional hair services, I make a conscious effort to stay updated with the latest hair trends and techniques. In 2023 I have completed over 20 hours of continued education to improve my skills and knowledge in the field, showcasing my ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service to my clients.
I am honored to have been featured in Voyage Michigan magazine, which highlights my contributions and accomplishments as a hair artist. I am always striving to challenge myself and push my boundaries in order to deliver the best results to my clients.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building a social media audience requires ongoing commitment and strategic efforts. From the beginning, I focused on growing my presence on Instagram by consistently posting before and after photos of haircuts, colors, and styles. Over time, I have fine-tuned my approach to create a distinct presentation of my work.
One of my top tips for building a social media audience is to make daily posts and consistently engage with your audience. By being active in conversations and connecting with your audience, you can increase your visibility and connect with potential followers.
When posting pictures on social media, presentation is essential. I am very particular about taking high-quality photos with clean and blurred backgrounds and engaging poses. This attention to detail has helped me stand out from the crowd and gain new clients through my Instagram account.
For those just starting to build a social media presence, my advice would be to remain dedicated, prioritize quality over quantity, and engage with your audience and other creators. By taking these steps, you can create an audience that is invested in your unique brand and work.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a hair artist, building authentic connections with my clients is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my profession. By establishing these relationships, I’m able to create customized hairstyles for each individual, delivering a personalized experience that brings satisfaction to both my clients and myself.
Providing genuine care and attention to detail is paramount in my work. I take great pleasure in collaborating with my clients to develop a look that truly reflects their personality and unique style. Whether it’s a simple trim or a complete hair transformation, my goal is to create an exceptional outcome that boosts my clients’ confidence and enhances their natural beauty.
Constantly seeking inspiration is an integral part of being a successful artist. I keep up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques, heavily relying on social media as a major source of inspiration. As a hair artist, I understand the importance of continuously educating myself on the newest products and techniques, and I am committed to obtaining relevant certifications and staying informed on industry developments.
Through these efforts, I have been able to distinguish myself from others in my area and provide my clients with exceptional service and results.
