We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bailey Ritter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bailey below.
Bailey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I can say I am ever so lucky that I haven’t ever had to “ask” many of my family members or friends to support my business. Most of them just show up and have my back. They think of me when they see things or opportunities I could go for that would better my businesses. They have also always been good with sharing my posts, coming to my vendor events, and such. I’m grateful for my support system and know that if ever needed I could go to them and ask them and they would be there 100%. It has really overall showed me that the ones who really truly care and support you will do everything in their power to be there for you, even if they can’t physically be there, without you having to ask.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I currently run two small businesses: photography and handmade jewelry!
I’ve been passionate about photography for more than half my life, and I’m self-taught. I began with nature photography before transitioning into portraits. Over time, I expanded into senior photos and family sessions. I love working closely with people during senior shoots and getting to know them better, and it’s always a joy to capture the special moments between families. My brother asked me to take his engagement photos, and I absolutely loved how they turned out. It was such a special experience, and it really sparked my passion for capturing those meaningful moments in people’s lives. In recent years, I’ve developed a deep love for concert photography, having had the opportunity to shoot for artists like David Kushner, ROSIE, Morgan Wade, Cameron Whitcomb, and more. Two years ago, I was thrilled to sell one of my photos to my all-time favorite band after one of their concerts—it’s definitely my proudest photography achievement.
As for jewelry, I’ve been designing and selling my creations for five years now. It’s been such a rewarding experience to make unique pieces, whether it’s creating custom earrings for a mother of the bride or crafting charm bracelets, rings, and pendants for personal ideas. I absolutely love seeing the joy on people’s faces when they receive their one-of-a-kind pieces.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me I think the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is getting to create something that someone else falls in love with. Seeing their eyes light up when they see one of your pieces, in my case a photo I took or jewelry made, and watching them have that “I want that / I need that” thought. And then also seeing someone wearing/displaying your pieces. I absolutely love when I see my photography hanging in my family or friends houses or when I see someone wearing earrings or a necklace I made them. It’s such a complete feeling knowing someone else loves something you made just as much as you loved making it

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would say there isn’t any particular goal or mission, mostly just happiness and making myself proud by living out these moments. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a creative, Im almost never not doing something. So getting to turn a lifelong hobby into something bigger is a dream. Getting to continue working towards something I already love doing so much is all apart of the journey. I’m working towards building my photography into something bigger, enjoying every step, appreciating all the support and opportunities along the way.
