Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bailey Parker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bailey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Recently I have released a collaboration project with fellow artist Jade Haa titled “Subject to Change”. The project is centered around positivity, good vibes, and being open to change. Jade and I are independent artists with solo projects that fall more along the lines of rock and hip hop with heavy tones so we decided to come together to juxtapose the majority of our art in creating a project to bring joy and shine light on the joys of life as opposed to our struggles.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a vocalist and producer from Kansas City that went public with my music in 2021 and earned a song writing award for the first song I released. In 2022, I won’t “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” at the All Missouri Music Awards. From there I decided to challenge myself with a new project under the moniker “BLVCKLIGHT”. Black lights are typically used in party-scene settings and clubs for an interesting aesthetic but are also used to expose germs and other agents not seen in plain sight. This was the idea behind my music so the name took over.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Some may have a difficult time understanding what is behind the music. I recently released my album “DVRKPLVCE” which is a very dark, trap metal project. It is intended to be a warning for those who may be headed down a dark path in life, but those who do not follow closely to the project will miss important ideas and believe the project in nature is negative. I encourage fans of all genres of music to take the time to dive into what is behind each story they open their ears to.

How did you build your audience on social media?
There a few simple things I think a growing artist should be aware of. The first being humility. It is important to keep a level head and let no level of success turn into ego inflation. Another important concept is networking. You never know who you be in a room with and each opportunity you reach for could open a new door. Lastly put effort into the quality of your art. Practice and focus on what you are trying to achieve.
