We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bailey Frantz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bailey below.
Bailey, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
In my industry, there’s a delightful new trend emerging where Photographers and Clients are embracing authentic, unfiltered, and organic moments during weddings and photo sessions. With the continuous evolution of technology and social media, many of us are yearning for simplicity. Clients now desire their galleries to be filled with genuine moments, rather than just posed perfection. As a photographer, this trend allows me to take a step back, becoming a “fly on the wall,” capturing these natural moments as they unfold. This timeless trend ensures that when looking back at photos in 10, 20, or even 50 years, the focus won’t be on perfection but on the beauty of imperfections and capturing life as it was. Personally, I wholeheartedly embrace this trend without any reservations.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a professional photographer specializing in Michigan weddings and lifestyle photography. Photography has been my passion for seven years, with four years dedicated to professional work. Every moment behind the camera feels like a dream come true. Working with me is like spending time with a close friend – relaxed and enjoyable. My aim is to create a comfortable environment where clients can truly be themselves, reflecting genuine emotions in my work. One of my greatest achievements is growing this business in a short period. I am self-taught, without formal education in photography, and have put in immense effort to reach where I am today. I am grateful for the support of family and friends who believed in me from the start, playing a significant role in my success.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2021, I juggled a 9-5 job while kickstarting my photography business and expecting my youngest child. The routine job no longer fulfilled me, leaving me uninspired and drained. After heartfelt discussions with my partner, we made the bold choice for me to focus on my photography venture full-time. It was a daunting decision, but with great support, I took the leap. Transitioning to photography full-time was a rewarding decision that taught me the value of pursuing dreams despite risks.
How did you build your audience on social media?
In the realm of social media, while I may not be an expert, I do know what resonates with me and draws my ideal clients. Consistency is key for me – I make sure to engage regularly on social platforms, offering my followers an authentic experience. By being genuine, sharing glimpses of my life, and maintaining transparency, potential clients already feel connected to me when they reach out for my services. Keeping my focus and avoiding comparisons, I find that creativity and innovative thinking are the most effective ways to attract the right clients.
