We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bahiya Cotton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bahiya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The story behind the name Majestic Body Brand was to create a skin care company, which provided handcrafted products and leaving customers with relaxation. Otherwise known as an at home spa with our sensational scents and ingredients. Majestic surrounding beauty and elegance, Body pertaining to the place where our current products are placed, and Brand pertaining to expansion of products we have and plan on providing in the future, as we progress.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Bahiya Cotton, founder of Majestic Body Brand, which started in Philadelphia, PA in January 2022. I am Passionate about selfcare, my skin care company offers handcrafted products that promote healthy skin healing. The product line offers a variety of products, including Body Creams, Body Oils, Scrubs, Soaps, Face Toner, and Lip Balms, targeting dry skin, eczema, anti-aging, and acne issues. Since the start of the brand, we have vended in over sixty events and have had our products placed in five stores in three cities & states. With such accomplishments, we eager to expand the range with additional products and placement in more stores.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I believe the most effective strategy for growing clientele is through in-person vending events. This allows customers to physically talk to me, get to know the brand and be able to touch the products. This direct-to-consumer approach allows for an authentic experience. As I ask questions pertaining to skin concerns, I can give a better solution for product choice and also suggest other products consumers may like. Often times, consumers will say I love this other product too!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A resilient story occurred during an outdoor vending event with bad weather. Due to the low turnout of visitors, I was a bit discouraged, but ended up networking with the small group and other vendors. At the end of the event, I built more business relationships and was able to get into a more depth conversation with them, than at other events. This also allowed me to be able to create content for my social media accounts too.
