We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Baby Jaay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Baby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
So my most meaningful project was A night at the A’MOORÉ. I’m going to start off at that time I was going through the motions felt like nobody was there for me, felt like all I had is me and my music. So the first song I recorded was actually GIVE IT TO ME, I recorded that in a small Home Depot shed on logic lol and my my boy tumtum came through and dloc was there and actually dloc was on the original version. So I made the beat sent it over to ej and the rest was history. I WANT YOU i actually played guitar in that track with help from my brother juice! We was at my uncle house and I asked him to make a beat, gave him a reference and he literally got right to work. That was my first time playing guitar on any track so I was so amazed at how I was figuring out the chords and passes also. Last but not least my interlude I GOT IT it has a lot of meaning because that was my first time stepping out of my comfort zone and really trying something new and it was fun with the help of my sis Bella marchelle and my bro nterlude

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello guys let me start off with My name is BABYJAAY a 23yr old artist out of Los Angeles ca. I do a couple thing I sing, i can rap, and i also play instruments. I have 3 singles out 2 projects and about 4 videos out right now the music u can find on any streaming platform under the name BABYJAAY and the videos on YouTube under the same name. I got in the music game early being I grew up in church with most of the people I’m in Blaccollar with. Blaccollar is an organization my brothers started to bring light on what we all was doing as far as the band, and artist. The thing I’m most proud of is really everything I have done because when I look back at where I have came from and what I was at first it’s crazy music really saved my life and still is saving my life and the main thing I want everyone to know is yall might not know me now but soon, soon you guys will

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
So in my genre how the society can help us artist is stop being so bias. It’s always I only listen to rap or I only listen to drill no cap. Us singers don’t get love like that because we not talking about shooting somebody up and throwing up a hood and it’s messed up because it be your friends too lol. Just the other day I had somebody tell me I don’t like your post on Instagram because you don’t post stuff I’m interested in literally everything on my page in either music or a loved one so it blew my mind lol

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The only goal or mission I have is to be able to get my family to where I want them to be. I want to be wealthy enough to were I don’t have to think how I’m going to get this when by what time, by what date. I want to be able to see my mom without a care in the world living her life to the fullest and pops sitting right next to me listening to my next single bout to be dropped!
