Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to BA303. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
BA303, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Throughout my career as a recording artist thus far there have been a few tracks and projects that have been incredibly meaningful for me personally. The first song I ever released had one of the deepest meanings out of all of them, and it was called “Place to Hide”. I had lost a best friend of mine to suicide and the one year anniversary was approaching. Mixed martial arts was my passion and the way I relieved stress. I had a torn rotator cuff at the time and could not use that venture to make myself better mentally, and one of my close friends suggested writing out my feelings in poem form or song form and I did. This led to my first song which was dedicated and about my friend Brent who had committed suicide. Many people and fans requested the continuance of music from me and I did. The next that comes to mind is my first full length album called “Twisted Visions”. This project was the best music I had made over the first year of my career and had a lot of great features and meaning to it. These were both released under my first stage name, and my real name Brandon Ashbaugh. In the summer of 2021 my best friend Ryan, or stage name Rkad3, got killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. This was the hardest time of my life and I wrote the deepest and most meaningful songs of my life. This led to a change in stage name. I dropped my first project under the new name BA303 called “Fake Smiles” a 6 song EP. This is hands down my most meaningful project as it was a complete dedication to Rkad3. This project led to many opportunities including two other important tracks to me. Firstly, I linked up with Dizzy Wright to make my track called “The Opposite”, this being the first ever big name feature I secured. The next song and hands down my most popular track came to fruition when I got linked up to Sean Kingston for a feature and then called in my dude Swizzy J to hop on the track with us. This song “Show You” skyrocketed to my number one track across all streaming platforms, making it another meaningful one for me for that reason and the fact that I have listened to Sean Kingston since my childhood.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began my music career in 2019 under the stage name Brandon Ashbaugh, but my passion for music reached to much earlier days within my life. I have always loved and had the passion for music and the creation of it, and the expression it allows me to have within my life. Hard times brought me to the point of creating my first song and since then it has been a whirlwind of opportunities, celebrations, hard times, amazing shows, national tours, and much more. I am a 25 year old recording artist based out of Denver Colorado. I have lived in Colorado my whole life and love it very much. I have managed within the last few years to meet my idols, tour with legends, make tracks with legends, and really push the envelope for the Colorado rap and hip hop scene. I have my business BA Worldwide Entertainment LLC as well, through which I provide merchandise of all sorts, studio time, and more. I love creating music and I love to meet all the people who listen to me.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The personal goal for me within this creative journey is to be able to express myself. Music for me allows a lot to get off my chest, but not only this it has allowed me to create friendships and relationships that would have never been possible without it. My goal is to attain as much happiness for me and my family as humanly possible. I also have the goal of helping people out through my music. Maybe this means you have been in the same bad places I have and my music helps you get out. Whatever it may be my goal is to create a life for myself and loved ones through this vision I have.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding things for me as an artist is when somebody tells me that I have helped them in any way, or brought them happiness in any way, shape or form. Money is never a bad thing and I am very grateful that I can make profits from these songs and business ventures, but nothing will ever compare to somebody saying that my music helped them, or made them even slightly happier.
