We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful B Poetique. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with B below.
B, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project that I have worked on was my second book of poetry “Sacred Field of Delicate Secrets: VENTage Series Book 2.” My second book of poetry was meaningful because I learned various lessons regarding the process of self-publishing my work when writing my first book of poetry. When writing and publishing my second book of poetry, I wanted to test my retention of information, comfort, creativity, and publishing and authoring abilities. Through the process of writing my second book of poetry and publishing it, I gained more pride and comfort being a published poet.

B, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As an artist, I am a poet who likes to make works that are relatable to readers by using life experiences and observations as motivators for my poems. I got into the industry as a club promoter hosting open mics. Before hosting open mics, I had written poems here and there. After hosting open mics, I took the craft more seriously. I decided to take poetry more seriously because I found that it was a type of therapy for me When I went back to read some of the poems that I had written, I realized that the things that I had written about could be beneficial to someone else, and this is when I decided to become an author. My style of poetry is based on realism, being vulnerable, and being unfiltered. People respond well to you when you are being your authentic self, and this is the basis of who I am, the works that I have authored and published, and the content that I bring into the world. As an author, I go by the name B. Poetique And my book series is under the name VENTage. I chose the name VENTage Because my poetry is a way to vent, but it’s also relatable to different ages and in different life stages.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society can support artists, creativity, and a thriving creative ecosystem by simply sharing the content of creators. Purchasing items that creatives create is always a positive step forward, but for those that cannot monetarily support creatives, a simple share goes a long way.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creator is allowing myself to be unapologetically who I am. Being a poet forces me to show people who I am, but it also shows people when I am being my authentic self or trying to be something else. When it comes to writing and performing poetry, you cannot fake the funk because people will notice. Putting myself in a position to always be 100% myself is more than rewarding during a time where so many people want to be like someone else.
