We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Azucena Teran a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Azucena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?

Sometimes I regret not becoming a makeup artist sooner, but when I reflect on my life I see that God had everything planned out for me. All things happen for a reason, and I am thankful it happened this way. In 2020, I bought my very first house at 22 years old. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration in May 2021 and received an amazing job offer right after. Despite the fact that everything seemed wonderful at the moment, I felt incomplete. In April 2022, I took a chance and created a makeup Instagram account where I began posting makeup looks. It was something I always wanted to do, but I was too afraid.

Azucena, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Azucena Teran, I am a makeup artist located in Houston Tx. I provide full makeup services for any occasions. Aside from doing makeup on weekends, I have my full time job from Monday- Friday. Because I had so many friends who would ask me to do their makeup, I decided to become a makeup artist. I’m proud that I didn’t stop, matter in fact I went ahead and took a makeup class where then I became a certified pro makeup artist.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Without a doubt, seeing the reactions of my clients after I’ve done their makeup. I enjoy it so much because of the positive emotions it creates in people.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

When I first got into social media, I wanted to share makeup looks and tutorials with other people. The goal was for me to grow organically and improve my makeup application techniques. In the first month, I discovered a company called Drama B Lashes, which sells products lashes and other cosmetics. When I first met Pamela, the CEO of Drama B Lashes, I felt an instant bond with her, as if the angels themselves had connected us. Thanks to Drama B Lashes, I was able to overcome my insecurities and develop into a more confident person. I didn’t think I could become a brand promoter, but I did so a few weeks later. My friends, to whom I am endlessly grateful for, played a crucial role in the expansion of both my audience and my work, but Drama B Lashes deserves special recognition for all the support into becoming who I am and sharing my talents. I would like to encourage you to believe in your own greatness at all times and to never give up on your dreams.
