Aziza , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

When I started my business in 2020, I called myself Infinity Nailz20. I wanted my business to stand out and have meaning behind it. The name infinity means unlimited and endless. As time progressed, I knew what I was capable of and the talent I have and I knew I was a go-getter. I wanted to own a beauty parlour and wanted to offer my clients everything. In 2022 I switched my business name to Infinity’s Beautie parlour. I look at my business as a jack of all trades, to have unlimited services for my clients. I want my clients to have it all when they walk through my doors, and be able to leave feeling wholesome .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hello, my name is Aziza Curry. I am a licensed nail technician and wax technician. My entrepreneur journey started in 2020. I have always been driven and a go getter never settled for less. I always knew that I was capable of building and empire and servicing some of my favorite artistes and celebrities. I was able to start doing nails in my small three bedroom apartment I was also expecting my second child at the time of my journey. I did not let anything stop me and my Goals. I thought doing nails was just going to be a hobby for me until I started really loving it and took interest in all aspects of doing nails, seeing all the nice creativity behind it, how you can turn such an empty canvas into a portrait. The following year, 2021, I took more time on perfecting my craft and foundation. I started practicing with family and friends. I started building my website. I made my first business Instagram, and wanted to show off my talent and my work. As my journey progressed in this industry, I gave birth to my daughter and there were some days where I just felt defeated, like my nail sets were the worst because I had so much going on with having a newborn,I felt like I wasn’t good enough. I felt like people were moving at a faster pace than I was and sometimes it was a little unmotivating., but I told myself everybody works at their own speed. Everybody works at their own pace, and everybody has their own goal, so I kept pushing and kept practicing. My husband encouraged me to take that leap of faith and enroll in nail school . Enrolling in nail school was the best decision I ever made. It was my outlet to show my talent and I loved it. When I wasn’t working a 9-5, I was in school doing nails while maintaining to be a mother and a wife. A few months went by, I was finishing nail school and wanted to take on doing lashes and waxing. I signed up to start esthetician school. I had a mishap with my financial aid and could not start school. I was very sad about it but it was gods way of telling me to slow down and take one step at a time and that was for me to finish nail school. I walked into nail class very down about not being able to go to esthetician school and my teacher said I do waxing classes you may not be able to do lashes at the moment, but you can do your waxing and nails and that all happened because I had to wait for it to be my turn. 2 months into my journey of nails and waxing I became pregnant again with my son I said wow here we go again *Laugh out loud* I learned from my 2nd pregnancy with my daughter was NEVER give up stay motivated don’t let the narrative be true that when you have kids everything comes to an end ,and that I didn’t I pushed through nails and waxing pregnant and came out at the end stronger with a passing certificate for nails and waxing .Everyday I got up and prayed for god to push me through these days and not to let me lose my faith. That all comes down to why I call myself infinityz Beautie parlour. I wanted my business to stand out and have meaning behind it. The name infinity means unlimited and endless. I look at my business as a jack of all trades to have unlimited services for my clients. I want my clients to have it all when they walk through my doors, and be able to leave feeling wholesome . I want my business to give people that one-stop shop. My business will strive and give that empowerment to all of my clients. I want to give people the knowledge and strategies that I didn’t have walking into this industry. I am what my brand consist of giving unlimited service, knowledge,strategies and tips welcome to Infinityz Beautie parlour and thank you for reading my story and my mission.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

Starting my journey, I knew absolutely nothing about doing nails. I started from the bottom by watching YouTube videos and practicing on myself in my living room. I started purchasing items off of Amazon, things I did not need, starting out as a beginner nail technician . I thought I needed the most expensive brands and products, all these fancy charms and all these colors, and if I was more educated starting out, I would have known that foundation is key to a successful nail set. For all the new upcoming nail technology, I would definitely recommend taking a class because sometimes even going to nail school does not teach you everything you need to know about a flawless foundation, but it definitely teaches you about disinfecting safety and sanitation and some very important protocols for the state board. I definitely recommend both if you want to invest in your career.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

I love getting to know other people and meeting new people and just hearing everyone’s story, you just never know who you can meet and I just love how my business gives me the opportunity to talk and collaborate with other successful entrepreneurs and even people from different backgrounds.
