We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aziz Cem. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aziz below.
Alright, Aziz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Embarking on the journey of my martial arts career was a significant risk that shaped my life in unexpected ways. Back in 2010, fueled by a burning passion for karate, I aspired to join the Turkish Karate National Team. The dream, however, was met with skepticism and even mockery from the national team coach. Determined, I persisted in my training and self-improvement.
In 2012, at the Central Europe Karate Tournament, I clinched the silver medal, marking a pivotal moment in my career. In this victory, the team I was representing was Poland, the country that recognized my talent. The turning point came in 2018 at the Central Europe Karate Championship, where I proudly won the gold medal.
This risk, though unconventional, opened doors to unforeseen opportunities. It led me to Poland, where I became part of the “Nielegalni” series and eventually knocked on Hollywood’s doors. In the realm of martial arts and cinema, embracing risks defined my narrative, showcasing that sometimes, the path less traveled can lead to the most remarkable destinations.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Aziz Cem, a name synonymous with the thrilling world of martial arts and cinematic action. My journey into this captivating realm began at the tender age of six, fueled by an insatiable passion for martial arts. Over the years, I’ve not only mastered the intricate techniques of combat but also delved into the realm of filmmaking, creating a unique fusion of action and storytelling.
As a martial artist, I’ve competed on both national and international stages, earning accolades such as the gold medal at the 2018 Central Europe Karate Championship. My story takes an unconventional twist as my victories, although celebrated globally.
In the realm of cinema, I’ve ventured into uncharted territories, using groundbreaking visual effects and storytelling techniques. My works, including the acclaimed “The Judge of Mountains” have made waves, challenging the norms of action cinema in Turkey and beyond.
I take pride in being a risk-taker, defying expectations, and carving my path in both martial arts and cinema. My unique approach sets me apart, offering audiences an exhilarating blend of traditional martial arts prowess and cutting-edge cinematic experiences.
What sets me apart is not only my expertise in martial arts but also my ability to seamlessly integrate it into the world of cinema. I solve the challenge of bridging the gap between raw, authentic combat and the visual spectacle demanded by audiences today. Whether it’s through my dynamic performances or visually stunning action sequences, I aim to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of my viewers.
I’m most proud of the international recognition garnered by my projects, particularly the attention received from Hollywood. My collaboration with esteemed figures like Don Wilson and ventures into international film projects signify a testament to my commitment to pushing boundaries.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that Aziz Cem represents more than just a martial artist or actor; I embody the spirit of innovation, fearlessness, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. My work is a testament to the idea that true success lies in embracing one’s uniqueness and breaking free from the constraints of conventional expectations.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The coolest part of being an artist is getting to connected with people’s feelings and thoughts. Like, making them jump in their seats with some exciting action or getting them all teary-eyed with a heart-touching story. It’s wild how you can take someone on a ride through your creativity. And when people tell me, “Hey, your stuff made me feel something,” that’s the real jackpot. It’s like we’re all vibing together through my work, and that’s just awesome.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Supporting artists and creatives goes beyond mere appreciation; it’s about creating an environment that nurtures and sustains creativity. First and foremost, acknowledging the value of art by attending exhibitions, concerts, or other events is crucial. Encouraging educational initiatives and integrating arts into mainstream education helps build a foundation for aspiring artists.
Financial support through grants, crowdfunding, or fair compensation for creative work is another key aspect. Collaborative projects and partnerships with local businesses or institutions can provide platforms for artists to showcase their work. Moreover, fostering an inclusive and diverse space for artists from all backgrounds ensures a rich and varied creative landscape.
Ultimately, recognizing the essential role of art in society and actively participating in its promotion leads to a thriving creative ecosystem.
