We were lucky to catch up with Aza Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.
Aza, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My career has been an ever-evolving journey, and I’m constantly working on new ways to bring my performances to life. But if I had to pinpoint a defining moment, it would definitely be my very first hypnosis show.
I was first introduced to hypnosis in 2019 through self-hypnosis audios on YouTube. They helped me meditate and navigate some personal struggles during my transition and relationships at the time. That experience led me to get certified in hypnosis, but it wasn’t until 2021 that I began hypnotizing others.
By October 2022, I decided I didn’t just want to work with private clients—I wanted to perform hypnosis. Growing up, I always dreamed of being a public speaker, and performing hypnosis felt like the perfect blend of that dream. However, as I delved into the world of stage hypnosis, I quickly realized that the standard approach—making people cluck like chickens or act foolishly—wasn’t aligned with who I am. But I figured, “Hey, this is how it’s done,” and went ahead with it.
My first show was in February, and I had everything planned out to perfection. But 20 minutes in, I could feel that it wasn’t working. People weren’t allowing themselves to be hypnotized—they were fighting it. In that moment, I was terrified. These people had paid to see me, and I felt like I was failing. I even started doubting not just myself, but hypnosis itself. I wondered, “Did everyone fake it with me before?”
Then, I did something crucial—I stopped trying to force it and just started talking from the heart. I shared how hypnosis had helped me, how it allowed me to overcome obstacles and connect with the universe. The moment I shifted gears, the energy in the room transformed. Before, it was tense, cold, and harsh. But as I spoke authentically, it felt like the lights and environment warmed. The static and angst faded away, and suddenly, everyone was deeply engaged.
One moment that stands out vividly is when I noticed someone in the front row almost falling out of her chair because she was so deep in trance. I walked over and suggested that the deeper she went, the more secure she’d feel in her chair—and at that moment, I knew I had everyone with me.
That experience taught me that my work isn’t about making people look silly on stage or getting a cheap laugh. It’s about helping people disconnect from the everyday noise and reconnect with themselves. Since that first show, my performances have evolved into guided hypnotic meditations. Instead of making people cluck like chickens, I now use hypnotic techniques to help people deepen their meditations and connect with a higher self, higher power, or whatever they need in that moment.
My shows have completely changed because I’m being more authentic to who I am. I’m not pretending to be a hilarious stage hypnotist—I’m Aza, your guide into your unconscious mind. With that authenticity, I’ve been able to remove my ego from my performances.
Looking back, the biggest lesson I learned is that it isn’t about me—it’s about the audience. It’s about helping them find that message that’s waiting just for them. As for the future, I’m a lifelong learner, and I’m currently working on a new certification that will enhance my hypnotic guided meditations. I don’t want to reveal too much too soon, but I’m excited about a new kind of performance that will fully integrate the mind, body, and soul to take the experience even deeper.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into hypnosis began in 2019 during a pivotal moment in my life when I first came out as nonbinary. I was in the midst of a gender crisis, living in Wheaton, Illinois—a conservative suburb of Chicago—where resources for someone like me were scarce. At that time, I was struggling with my mental health and experiencing severe sleep issues. My therapist recommended hypnotic audios to help me sleep, and that simple suggestion changed everything.
The first audio I tried worked wonders, sparking my curiosity about the potential of hypnosis. I soon discovered tracks focused on destroying limiting beliefs, particularly those tied to gender identity. After just a few self-hypnosis sessions, I began to see significant results and realized the incredible power of the unconscious mind.
When the pandemic hit, I found myself with extra time and a deep desire to explore this newfound passion. I delved into Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which naturally led me to study hypnosis more intensively. Over the next two years, I completed multiple online courses in Hypnosis and NLP, logging hundreds of practice hours virtually.
In 2022, while taking a course, I met my husband, who became my first in-person subject. He and his family introduced me to metaphysics, and ever since, I’ve been weaving those elements into my hypnosis practice.
At my performances, you can expect a transformative experience—an opportunity to reconnect with the universe and receive a message from your ancestors, a departed loved one, a past life, a higher self, a higher power, or something else entirely. These messages are often unexpected but always exactly what you need to hear.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and my deep connection to the work I do. I’m not just guiding you through a hypnotic experience—I’m inviting you to explore the depths of your own unconscious mind, to break free from the limitations that hold you back, and to embrace the messages that will help you live your most authentic life.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Absolutely, I would choose the same path again. From a young age, I knew I wanted to speak in front of people—I considered careers like law, teaching, motivational speaking, coaching, consulting, and acting. Essentially, I was drawn to anything that would put me in front of an audience. Never did I imagine that being a Hypnotic Meditation Guide would be where I’d land, but it makes perfect sense now.
Combining my passion for public speaking with my core value of wanting to help others doesn’t seem like such a leap in hindsight. All those aspirations led me here, and it feels like this was the path I was always meant to take.
Interestingly, I share a birthday with Franz Anton Mesmer, the creator of mesmerism, which only deepens my sense of destiny in this work. It’s as if everything in my life was pointing me towards this unique, fulfilling profession.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
At this stage, I consider venues my main clientele since I’m not focused on private sessions. The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been to embrace the “No.”
Rather than spending too much time nurturing a “maybe” into a “yes,” I focus on seeking out clear answers, even if that means facing rejection. Reaching out and hearing a definitive “No” is far more valuable than being left in limbo. It’s about building awareness—because even those who say “No” will remember me. And when they hear about my work from someone who did say “Yes,” they might be the ones reaching out to book me next time.
This approach has allowed me to stay authentic and persistent, knowing that my service is valuable and that the right opportunities will come as long as I keep putting myself out there.
