We recently connected with Ayren Cartier and have shared our conversation below.
Ayren , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents allowed me to chase my dreams, no matter how many times I changed them. They always supported me in every idea and everything I wanted to do! They knew I loved being creative and always encouraged me to express that through music, dance, acting, fashion—the list goes on!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to be in a creative space. Growing up, I had a deep love for music and was always drawn to male and female groups—their style, their image, and how they presented themselves as a collective. I also had a passion for performing and was certain I wanted to pursue something in music during that time in my life.
Along with two friends, I started a music group, and I naturally took the lead in styling our outfits. As we got older and pursued different paths, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of what I truly wanted to do. However, one thing remained clear—I had a love for fashion and style.
I started making YouTube videos here and there without a clear focus and casually posted outfit pictures on Instagram, not taking it too seriously (this was back when IG was just starting out). Over time, I launched my blog, Tales of a Fashionisto, and began working with brands here and there, though I still wasn’t fully committed.
It wasn’t until around COVID that I made the decision to seriously pursue content creation as a career. Now, I’m fully committed to YouTube, where I create fashion, lifestyle, and travel content. I share outfit ideas, reviews, unboxings, and styling tips to help others elevate their looks.
At this moment, I’m incredibly proud of two major achievements—moving to NYC and attending New York Fashion Week last year. Both were lifelong dreams, and I made them happen!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My family is the greatest driving force behind my creative journey. I want them to see me reach my full potential and know that everything I’ve worked so hard for—the sacrifices I’ve made, the moves I’ve taken, and the mindset shifts I’ve embraced—has truly paid off.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
To me, support is all about interaction. As a content creator on Instagram, YouTube, and now making my way into TikTok, engagement is the most valuable resource. Brands won’t even consider you if they don’t see an engaged audience that’s ready to receive their products. Something as simple as leaving a comment or liking a post or video takes only a few seconds—most people are staring at their phones all day anyway!
I often find myself working twice as hard just to get people to support even the smallest things, like engaging with a post, but those little actions make a huge impact. If you have a friend or family member offering a service, support them by paying full price—don’t ask for a discount just because you know them personally. We’re all trying to build something for ourselves, so treat the people in your circle with the same respect and enthusiasm.
