We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ayoki Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ayoki, appreciate you joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I’ve always had a passion, a keen eye for creativity and I wanted to show what I loved and how easy creativity came to me. I enjoyed seeing designs overall, whether it was party or event flyers, billboards or even the creativity I saw in commercials.
I could do graphics but I didn’t begin to take it serious until March the following year where I created my Instagram page and began offering to do free designs or recreating flyers for people I knew. I was practicing my designs on Canva and I got better overtime where I began my transition to Photoshop where it took my creativity to a whole other level. I knew that building a business and community couldn’t be done by myself alone so I networked with other creators like myself. I had to figure out how to market my business, what style of display did my audience like best and tried to switch it up and wow them every time.

Ayoki, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Ayoki Wright, a 18-year-old creative and the founder of OneilliasKreative. I was born and raised in Jamaica, and I’ve always had a passion and a keen eye for creativity. My journey into this this field began when had my CXC exams to do in 2023, where I had to do Graphic Design for my creative piece for Visual Arts. I wanted to show what I loved and how easy creativity came to me. Through OneilliasKreative, I offer a wide range of services including flyer design, website design, brand identity design and so much more tailored to your specific brand.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just design for aesthetics, I design with strategy and an aim in mind. My work is created to help clients connect with their audience, elevate their presence, and drive real growth. Since being in business, I’ve seen businesses transform after working with me, from boosting customer engagement to standing out in competitive industries. I love when I can make an entrepreneur fall back in love with their brand. These results are what fuel my passion.
At just 18 years old, I’m proud to have built OneilliasKreative into more than just my passion project— it’s a brand for businesses and individuals who want to put their best foot forward. When people work with me, they’re not just getting a design; they’re getting a team player who’s invested in their vision, their story, and their success.
Being a creative also allows me to connect with people in a meaningful way. Each project is a collaboration, a chance to understand someone’s story and translate it into visuals that resonate with their audience. That process, turning ideas and passion into results, is what makes this work so fulfilling. Every piece I create becomes part of someone else’s journey, and knowing I play a role in their growth and success is deeply rewarding.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. This is more than just a business for me. Graphic Design is my lifeline, it is what helps me to breathe, to relax or even refuel my energy. I want to expand my creative skills to do it full-time and actually use it to change people’s life. I want my business to be known worldwide for the services and premium quality it provides.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
As I stated before, I knew that building a business and community couldn’t be done by myself alone so I networked with other creators like myself. I supported people for the same in return. I would advice you that are starting to build your social media presence to market yourself like crazy!! Network, Network, Network. I promise networking is never too much. Promote your business everywhere you go. Have your logo or slogan embroidered on a T-Shirt that you can wear when traveling out your parish/state/country. Rep your business at all times and hand out business cards/flyers strategically. Start in your community and gradually work your way up. Know your target audience, lock in and keep focusing on pleasing them.
