Ayisha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
During the challenges of Covid, my job hours were cut dramatically, and I found myself in a position of needing to find something that I enjoyed doing that also leveraged my talents as a businesswoman in order to sustain myself. I had started pet sitting on the side and the more I did it the more people loved my work and the happier I was. I also saw that the need for trustworthy pet sitters was on the rise due to so many pet adoptions during this time. With many friends and family and happy clients encouraging me I took the leap to make this into a real sustainable business.
I began getting as much support and training as I could get my hands on. I started business entrepreneur training classes, working directly with a business coach, and working on a business plan. Out of that Posh Pet Sitter was born as a high-end pet care service.
I was on delighted to see my vision, ideas, and hard work come to life and the results make people and pets happy and satisfied but there was something more I wanted. I come from a background working with weddings and events and realized that I also missed that world. I would ask myself repeatedly how I could one day combine pets and weddings and would there ever be a market for this. The more I put feelers out and did research the more I would hear stories from married couples who had pets in their weddings saying how badly they could have used help and a professional service that provided wedding pet care. They would also all say if they did again they would’ve hired a professional. This wedding trend begain to grow and I took this as a positive sign and decided to combine two things I love and am now offering Wedding Pet Coordinator services for couples that want to include their furry loved ones in their wedding plans.

We offer overnight pet sitting in the comfort of your home, drop-in pet care, and wedding pet coordinator services for couples that want to include their furry loved ones in their wedding festivities. We started with overnight pet sitting in the owner’s home because we found a great need for this service in our area. With so many clients that are rescues they often have challenges with reactivity issues and don’t get along with other pups. We found that giving individual care in their environment would not only give our furry clients peace of mind but our humans too.
We love making dreams come true! Making it possible to include your pup in one of the most important events in your life is exactly what we do as Wedding Pet Coordinators. How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
For years, I thrived in the fun atmosphere of downtown Seattle’s nightlife, reveling in the artistry of mixology and the vibrant company of patrons. However, the allure of late nights and early mornings began to ware, prompting a want for transformation within me. My experiences orchestrating events and promotions for a local radio station had already hinted at a budding passion for event planning. Encouraged by this realization, I embarked on an academic journey, aiming to refine my skills and chart a new course in my career. Little did I know, this decision would not only expand my professional horizons but also lead me to the unique niche of wedding pet coordinator services that my business proudly offers today.
My time in school was a revelation. I discovered that the most effective way to deepen my understanding of the event industry was to dive into as many hands-on experiences as possible. I seized the opportunity to join the college television station, where I honed my skills as a TV controller and Assistant Producer. Eager to explore every facet of the industry, I transitioned to radio, where I flourished as an on-air personality and ascended to the role of Promotions and Fundraising Director. This position challenged me to lead a team, craft and oversee a multitude of events both on and off-campus, and in the process, significantly bolster my event management and leadership skills.
My journey did not stop there. I further broadened my experience by taking on the role of Speakers Programmer, where I was responsible for planning and executing speaking engagements for both the college and the public.
This experience was pivotal, instilling in me the confidence to finally step away from the bar and restaurant industry and pursue my dream of making a mark in the world of event planning. Reflecting on my path, it’s clear that what began as a quest for academic enrichment evolved into an adventure filled with growth, learning, and the discovery of a unique service that combines my love for events with the joy pets bring to special occasions. This pivot in my career, from bartender to wedding pet coordinator, underscores the beauty of embracing change and the endless possibilities that come with daring to follow one’s dreams.
