We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ayeedaprince a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ayeedaprince, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
Nowadays I feel comfortable asking friends/family to support my business. I like when friends tell their friends to support me and that’s something I’m proud to say they do also family as well. But with family the support I look for is mainly motivation. I don’t like if someone share my business in the wrong way such as anything negative.
DaeVontae , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been passionate with music since a young age but just lacked the confidence to pursue that. So as I got older and more confident in my music is when I started taking it seriously. My music is what I like to call “genreless” or versatile to make it easier. My music offers multiple vibes to listeners. Whether you’re looking for something energetic, calming, sympathetic, rock, etc. I try to stay versatile and give my listeners a variety of music options to choose from. I’m proud of how much I’ve achieved and how far/ how much I’m learning in this industry that I’m in. My fans know I’m from a small town that doesn’t get much buzz or notoriety but with my music, I’ve been able to give hope and inspire people back home that maybe you can be something from nothing.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned to at least give your dreams a try, and when you give your dreams a try give it your all because you never know if you’ll succeed until you try. I say this because back when I was young making music I never released it because I lacked the confidence only because my friends were all doing different things and laughed at me when I told them about my dream to be an artist and didn’t support. It was only until my single “trophy” made multiple fm radio stations around the world was when I got the support from the ones I wanted it from the start.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my business in social media by promoting and being as consistent as I can be with my post. I would post my music and tag multiple trending artist is the post just to get there fans to see it as well. Also I would share other peoples business as well because if I’m sharing there business I’m more thank likely get their support as well to share my music. The advice I would offer to anyone building their social media presence Is stay consistent and actually put money behind promotion for your social media presence.
