Ayan , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My name is Ayan Osman, and I am the youngest of nine siblings. As an immigrant to this country, I faced various challenges. Raised by a single mother who was working tirelessly to make ends meet without any support, I found my motivation to become an independent young woman. Witnessing my mother’s strength as a single parent in our humble village in Uganda, I nurtured a dream to create a better life for myself.
After years of struggling to get by, working paycheck to paycheck and feeling like I wasn’t making progress, I reached a turning point in 2020. With determination, I managed to save around $4,000. This became the foundation of my skincare brand. Without any external support, I poured that $4,000 into creating my skincare line, and the rest is history.

I specialize in selling plant-based skincare products tailored for both men and women who might be facing skin related issues. My journey has been one of overcoming challenges, as I ventured into this industry without the backing of family and friends. The most challenging aspect of starting my business was the lack of support and the continuous struggle to stay consistent despite the absence of immediate progress. In the beginning, the road was tough. It took an entire year before I started seeing any profits. The perseverance to not give up, even when progress seemed elusive, was perhaps the hardest part of my journey. This experience taught me the value of resilience and unwavering determination.
For those who might be unfamiliar with my story, I want to offer some insight. My journey began with a determination to provide quality plant-based skincare solutions for individuals facing financial constraints. My products are designed to cater to both men and women, ensuring that everyone can access skincare that cares for their well-being while being considerate of their budget.
One of the problems I aim to solve is making self-care accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances. I believe that self-care is not a privilege but a necessity, and everyone deserves the chance to take care of their skin and boost their confidence.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve come to understand that not everything one sees or hears is true. When I initially launched this business, I held the belief that simply having my products and a website would guarantee wealth and success. However, I’ve since learned the genuine path to building a business and generating profits. It involves investing more to make more, taking calculated risks, and acknowledging that setbacks can be part of the journey, including financial losses.

I indeed didn’t have a co-founder or partner at the inception of this business. I initiated this venture from scratch, guided by my personal determination and passion. The initial strides were taken solo, without any external assistance or collaboration. My journey stands as proof that starting and building a business on your own is not only possible but achievable.
