Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Avont Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Avont , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

Growing up i was the worst at drawing. I would compare myself to the other kids who at my young age were just making these insane creations. I would print out dragon ball pictures and draw them on printer paper. My only teacher is really just trying something, sucking at it, taking a break from it and coming back stronger the next time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I never called myself an “artist” growing up. A bad relationship ultimately lead me to discovering that art is my passion, started drawing every day, experimenting, failing and getting back up. I am currently working on getting myself out there more and do shows. I also go by Avonts art, if that matters.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

It’s nice not to have to think for a few hours a day. When i’m not drawing my mind is too active pondering on the future.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

Art doesn’t always have to have some deep meaning or thoughtful quote.
