We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Avongale Art. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Avongale below.
Avongale, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The project that is most meaningful to me is a high fantasy comic that I’m working on called “Reforged”. It’s a project I’ve worked on for many years, and it has inspired me to improve my skills as an artist and writer. The official comic has not been released yet, but most of my work and illustrations are related to developing my story and the characters as a whole.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello everyone, my name is AvongaleArt!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a daydreamer. Growing up, I would spend all my free time creating original stories and illustrating the characters involved. It’s always been a passion of mine, and that enjoyment still fuels my life and career as an artist everyday.
Nowadays, in terms of business and my professional career as an artist, I table at conventions, craft sales, events, etc. and sell prints and merch of the illustrations I’ve made over the years. It’s an incredibly fun and awesome way to be connected with other passionate creators, while sharing my own work and story to those I meet along the way.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives me is my ambition is to see my original comic to completion and publication. It’s what motivates me the most not only as an artist, but as a creative writer. Even from a young age that dream of creating my own comic inspired me to keep practicing despite initially feeling less skillful than others. Present day, I feel more confident where I’m at, but my goal is still to make the best comic that I possibly can.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist to me is seeing the end result of a project and being able to share it. My illustrations can take up to 10-24 hours to complete depending on size and complexity, so to see it finished is very fulfilling.
As for my comic, I’m very excited for the day it’s printed out in it’s intended format and shared with the public. So far, I’ve easily spent hundred of hours working on scripts, concept art, paneling, and even just improving my skills as an artist and writer. The finished product of my comic will be the accumulation of my time and hard work, and I believe it’ll be the most rewarding aspect of my career when the time comes.
