We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Avinne Elias a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Avinne , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

Jumping into a new career can be frightening. You have no idea what to expect but you have to give it your all. I knew I wanted to persue being a makeup artist when I saw my whole family believe in me. After their encouragement I knew at that point I had nothing to loose.

Avinne , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Social media is a great place to get noticed. Family and friends, word of mouth are all how I got started. I think the main factor of being successful is pushing yourself and not giving up. That shows potential.. and always wanting to learn. Everyone grows each and every day and as artists we are always learning and expanding our experiences. If I can give any fellow artist or clients some advice it’s to always practice and never give up. As long as you love it you will get better. A lot of times my clients ask for help in how to apply their own false lashes, perfecting eyeliner, bring able to apply their eyeshadow better or find the best color matching shade and my answer is always to keep practicing. Practice makes perfect.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

I’m driven every day. My clients drive me to explore more creativity daily. It’s truly a blessing to be able to do what I love. My goal is always to make everyone happy and feel confident in their own skin.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to bring my clients idea to life. Makeup is the first thing you see when you are looking at someone and making them feel beautiful on their wedding day or event is truly rewarding.
