We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Avery Isernia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Avery, appreciate you joining us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?

When I first started as a Cosmetic and Restorative tattoo artist I spent every spare minute outside of my 9-5 job as an esthetician practicing my craft, building my network and hoping for my first client. The biggest contributing factor to my career has been my commitment to continuing education and navigating the growing pains of a small business.

Thus far, networking with local surgeons, small business owners and beauty creators has been the most effective way of growing my client base.

I make sure when a potential client walks through my door for a consultation or service that their questions are answered and their concerns are eased throughout the entire process. I build a relationship of trust that’s starts before service and goes years beyond.In trusting the artist my clients can come back again and again yielding beautiful results from suggested prolonged aftercare tips.
