We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Average Dad Gaming. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Average Dad below.
Average Dad, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve been playing video games since I got a Nintendo. I grew up loving sports games. Fast forward to 3 years ago when my son told me to start playing Apex Legends. I used to play Apex Legends so much that my wife said I should just start streaming it live. Fast forward to Mothers Day 2022 is when I started my Youtube Journey.
I’ve had to learn everything. I’ve had to learn how to play certain video games, navigate around starting a youtube channel, live stream, creating content, constantly thinking of the future.
There are so many stories to branch off, but I’ll keep it to learning the business side of the craft. Video game streaming is not easy to start doing and it’s very time consuming. It’s not for everyone, but if I can literally do it…anyone can.

Average Dad, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been many names. Not in a weird hiding way, but in a way to try and launch branding around the art that I’m inspired to create. I taught myself how to play guitar when I was in middle school. I love taking pictures with my phone. I love playing video games. I love being a husband and a dad.
I’m an average guy, so when I was looking to create a brand that would be relevant and inspire people, I went literal. Average Dad Gaming.
I had a successful Instagram page before I started Youtube. I took pictures with my phone and posted it, but I decided to delete the account in order to launch this new vision. Having over 100k followers and just completely deleting the page, maybe wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but I didn’t see it in the future running in tandem with Youtube.
I’ve been grinding on Youtube with livestreams of me playing video games, playing live music, and dad stuff. What is the most important though and why I started all this, wasn’t for my own benefit. This whole life we live and the opportunities we get don’t last long. There are so many individuals who want to be a part of something positive. Growth mindset with a bigger picture involved. This is why I really started this journey. I want to inspire people to be a better version of themselves. I want to inspire people to be successful (whatever that definition is to them). I want to help create a community where people can be themselves without judgement, be supported, makes friends, make business partners, and live life together while lifting each other up.
We aren’t a brand to be something. We are group of people who want to help others be something.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Currently, seeing other channels reach monetization.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I met people by being real.
Advice: Be real, don’t be offended, create what you want to create and not what others what you to create
