We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ava White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ava, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes being able to define success, in order to be successful, because it looks different for everyone. For some, success is defined by affording the latest trends, and for others, it looks like getting off work in time to see their child play sports… It is all dependent on where your priorities are.

Ava, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ava Nicole and by the grace of God, I am a part of the amazing and ever-changing art & interior design industry! After finishing high school, I went to college and studied interior design and graduated with multiple degrees in interior design as well as kitchen and bath design! The timing of my graduation was at the height of the pandemic so with limited options I stepped out on faith and officially started my business!
Designs by Ava Nicole LLC is a company that specializes in enhancing the lives of others through creativity. Our services include interior design, furniture upcycling, and commission artwork. What sets me apart from other artists and designers is the light of Jesus in me! God has given me a naturally positive soul, which shows through my unique perspective and the creation of functional and aesthetically pleasing designs, furnishings, and artwork.
I am most proud of the journey I’ve been on as a young entrepreneur and how this journey has increased my faith in God!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is knowing I genuinely improved the life of another, that’s what it comes down to for me. I’m in this industry to help others through my creativity. Of course, it’s a good feeling when I know I’ve created and effectively communicated my design but it’s the best feeling when my clients come back, later on, to tell me how their every day has enhanced better because of my craftsmanship.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal of my journey is to create designs, furnishings, and artwork that ultimately point people to God. Whether it’s a family heirloom restoration, commission artwork, or an entire basement remodel, I see each project as an opportunity to shine the light of Christ into someone else’s life through the work of my hands.
