We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ava Pandit. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ava below.
Ava, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think a key element to success is TRUST in oneself. – Starting with having a sense of your own space of being, and then being confident enough in yourself to dream big and trust that it is possible for you; believing in the future before it happens; trusting what you know and following the trails of that energy in action; and most importantly, trusting yourself to have your own back at every step of the way.
Being an Empath, I’ve always been very aware of other people’s needs, their points of views, how they’re feeling etc. And then that coupled with me also being an ADHD, OCD, and on the spectrum (which by the way I only found out about myself much later in my life – and everything made so much more sense with that!), also added to me often feeling lost in a bazillion ideas – mine, and other peoples; being too stuck in the head – mine, and others.
I want to add here – I think it’s crucial that we understand the ‘difference’ in ourselves – not as a diagnosis of what’s wrong with us, but instead from the awareness & exploration of the GIFT we have.
Learning to first of have a clear sense of what is the space of ME, and then cultivating trust in MYSELF on every step of the way has been my key to success. And I’ve seen that work for every person I get to work with too! We get lost in the sea of – what we don’t even recognize as – our own awareness. And then when we follow someone’s “secret formula” and it doesn’t work for us, we make ourselves wrong. While not realizing that the secret formula that worked for them was because it was congruent with them. What our success requires is from us to find what’s congruent with us, on every step of the way.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve had a keen interest in discovering what’s truly possible for us. It led me to studying Psychology for 5 years, and I thought I had all the answers and keys to help people create happy and fulfilling lives & careers. However, in the initial years of my career as a Psychologist & Executive Coach I saw that there’re a lot of gaps between theory and on-field practical – A lot of ‘solutions’ but they often assume a ‘problem’; a lot of wisdom-talk that sounds great, but doesn’t necessarily work for everyone. And the difficulty with that is that the people it doesn’t actually work for, often end up getting stuck in excruciating self-judgment cycles.
“There’s got to be more!!! There’s got to be something different available here!”
That yearning is what initiated a different exploration into what has evolved to become my work now.
I facilitate people in Cultivating Trust in themselves – creating an intimate relationship with themselves – which I’ve found is the key to a creative fulfilling experience of life! What if what you think the problem is, isn’t the problem at all? What’s actually going on, for You? What do YOU desire to create in your life, and in the world? And what does it take to actualize that? That’s the work that we do.
There’s so much noise in the world (and in our heads) that often keeps us from having clarity and from showing up in a way that we desire (and deep down ‘know’ we CAN).
I offer Private Intensive Programs, Speaking Engagements, Classes, & Sessions to help people cut that noise, have more presence with themselves, and stay on track with their dreams, goals, and the possibilities they are aware of. I believe that we are the only ones that know what’s best for us and what ‘works’ for us, and it’s so important to learn to listen to our own inner guidance! That’s essentially what much of the noise keeps us from having presence with. In our work together, we change that. I teach my clients the tools they require to build a presence with themselves that allows them to show up in their lives and for their dreams in a way they’d like to!
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it is this – Procrastination, self-doubt, lack of inspiration/motivation, lack of energy, enthusiasm & joy – these are just ‘symptoms’. What’s really underneath these symptoms is a lack of presence & connection with yourself. When we change that, the symptoms start to disappear too! And we get to show up in a way that’s not only fun for us, but also an inspiration to people around us!
I believe that the work that we do together is the most important work for your life! And regardless of whether you do this work with me or not, I do hope more people have these conversations with themselves and hop on this journey for themselves in a way that works for them; I believe that that’s what our world requires right now – more people that are stepping into their difference, trusting themselves, listening to the whispers of possibilities that are speaking to them, and creating towards the future they wish to see on our planet!
Have you ever had to pivot?
After starting and growing my in-person coaching business organically over 4 years in India, I made a choice to move to the United States; actually made a choice to marry my then-boyfriend, and that entailed moving to the United States. When the wedding frenzy calmed down, I realized I had to start from the ground up again and this time in a country and culture that’s way different than my familiar space. This is when I also understood the importance of having an online aspect to your business and once I was done bickering and complaining about how hard it is (oh how we make-it so hard with our own thinking. haha), I got to work about learning everything I could in the world of online business & marketing. And I’d love to say how the various ‘secret systems’ I learned from the ‘experts’ were the key that created my success, but that wouldn’t necessarily be true. After failing to be a star-student in several of our contemporary online business programs, I realized that the biggest and the most easy pivot I’ve ever required was a pivot in my way of thinking, mindset, and approach. In truth, things only started moving and working for me in a way I desired once I started playing with tools available while trusting in what I know. I think that once we learn (and then practice) the skill of pivoting our perspective and mindset, we can achieve any goal we truly desire.
Any advice for managing a team?
I have some out of the box advice for managing a team and maintaining a high morale, and as with everything I ask that you take from it what works for you. I believe that people have got to be enjoying the work that they do. And in that capacity, I ask my team to let me know if they stop enjoying any part of the work/process. We always look at it, when that comes up and see what’s required – can we do something different here? do we need to add something/someone? is there a different possibility the team member is aware of? are they done? do they desire to do something else – within the business, or outside? I have seen that when we empower our team members to have that level of space and vulnerability, it keeps them on the creative edge, and contributes to the business too.
