Alright, Autumn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a business owner my mission is to always educate my clients first. As a community, there are a lot of things that aren’t taught or shown that are vital to our success in life. Whether it’s related to cosmetology or taxes/finance these are very important factors in life. This is meaningful to me because when you know better you do better. When you know how to take care of yourself physically and mentally you do succeed. When you know how to handle your finances you are more successful, you are now knowledgeable and know when a financial move may or may not be in your best interest at that particular time. So many people allow their children to be claimed by others during tax season because they simply aren’t educated on how the process works, they don’t know any better. I always encourage my people to protect not only their children’s personal information but there’s as well. One day at a time and one client at a time is what I live by. As long as I reach one person I feel I’m doing my due diligence.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got started in the beauty industry offering eyelash extensions and eyebrow waxing. Once I decided to go to school to get my esthetic license I decided to go for cosmetology because I didn’t want to be placed in a box. I knew what my long term goal was and that was to ultimately own a hair salon which I opened July 9th of this year named Autumn Nights Exotix Salon! I’m super excited about it. This is a full service salon located in downtown Concord at 324 Church St N. For appointment bookings or consultations don’t hesitate to call us at 980-243-9767. I love being able to give other stylists a safe, affordable, clean and chic workplace is amazing to me. To be able to give my clients a comfortable and memorable salon experience is what’s important to me. My journey was not easy at all but it was well worth the trials and tribulations. God is AMAZING! Without him none of this would be possible and I have to give him thanks every chance I get.
I also run a tax office, Ms Max You Out and I own my software company as well which gives you the opportunity to become a tax professional and purchase your own software to start your tax office. I have a team of 11 employees located in different cities to mention a few, Fayetteville NC, Miami FL and Atlanta GA. These ladies are wonderful and self driven and that’s honestly what I look for when I’m hiring anyone to join my team. Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
You have to put yourself out there! Yes social media is a great platform but face to face interactions are always the best. You have to go out and show people who you are, have those conversations and show that you are relatable. It’s easier to feel someone’s energy when they are in front of you. It’s hard to read someone through social media that you don’t know or what you’re really getting into. I always encourage my employees to go out and promote themselves, shake hands, give hugs, give back to your community these are the people that are going to support you and encourage others to support you as well!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I expressed in a previous article how I experienced the loss of my grandmother and the toll it took on me as well as life changes. Just going through the motions of being discouraged and not seeing my vision clearly. But I’m here to tell you DO NOT GIVE UP! It gets better, your vision is your vision for a reason! It’s not for everyone to understand and it’s not your job to make them understand. You go through with your plans, if that’s what you want to do in your heart in your mind, body and soul you go after it and don’t stop striving even after you get to where you want to be. Don’t worry about who doesn’t support you. The right people will be placed in your life at the right time.
