We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Autumn & Marcus Mohon . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Autumn & Marcus below.
Autumn & Marcus , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
Textiles, textiles, textiles! This was by far the most practical course and we often refer back to what was learned when faced with choosing fabrics. In order to create a certain impact or bring together desired tones, it’s essential to understand how textiles complement one another. Our ultimate goal is to use fabrics and other design elements to curate warm, welcoming homes that invite joy and celebration into each and every one of our client’s lives.

Autumn & Marcus , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a husband and wife duo who founded Mohon Interiors in 2001 upon the belief that everyone should live with beauty and style. We strive to create transportive environments that are inspired by love, joy, and celebration.
Our story actually began right here in Texas. Marcus is a native of southeast Texas and he was working towards an economics degree from Baylor University before realizing that his life’s passion was rooted in more creative pursuits. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Marcus was selling antiques in Fredericksburg when we met and he made the decision to enroll in design school at The University of Texas shortly thereafter; a decision that changed our lives forever! Together, we opened Mohon Interiors over 20 years ago and our firm has been creating memorable interiors ever since.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Serving our clients well and putting their needs first is at the forefront of our minds when we start a project, and that remains our focus throughout every engagement. We’re in a service industry and we are passionate about having happy clients who are in love with their homes. Nothing compares to the feeling we get when a project is complete and our clients are overjoyed, and having that client refer a friend is the most meaningful testament to our service-oriented approach we could ever ask for.

Any advice for managing a team?
We believe that going to work should be fun, both for us and for our team. We strive to foster an energetic environment, but the most important element is that we really care about each of our team members individually. We’re always looking for new ways to acknowledge each person’s contributions and to better understand how our team is doing at any given moment. It’s important to us that we know what their goals are for the future so that we can better serve them while they’re with us at Mohon Interiors.
