Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Autumn Eve. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Autumn, appreciate you joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
So, I know this is true for many of us. As creatives we often have a main job that pays the bills while pursuing our heart’s artistic endeavors. For me, personally, I worked in coffee for a very long time (about 7 years!) along with many other jobs. I fully believe that it is worth it to commit to pursuing the creative/artistic path while also having a job that pays the rent. For so long I thought I had to choose one or the other. But that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. So yes, I do have a regular job, but I know that in order to be true to myself and my purpose, I must simultaneously keep creating music. I would be unhappy to only have a regular job. But at the same time, I would be even more devastated to have never attempted working on my rock album in the first place, stayed in the stage fright and never played live shows, and kept believing the lie that it was too “illogical” to have a music career one day. I’m so glad that I slowly but surely stopped believing that it wasn’t possible.
Am I happy now? Yes. For me, it is a choice. It’s a choice to intentionally celebrate the small steps in your music career. It’s a choice to remember how far you have come sonically and notice the progress instead of the set backs. I am beginning to practice choosing to be proud of how far I have come and viewing the journey as a big part what success actually is. I often feel the opportunity to be afraid of my music going nowhere, fizzling out, or staying unheard. But I constantly have to remind myself why I am doing music and go higher in my perspective. I have to give it all I got. I am doing this to bring love to my audeince, to meet the broken hearted where they are at, to empower women coming out of domestic violence, & to uplift the crushed, hopeless spirit. If I can help one person with my music journey, then I am happy. Even if it is just 1 listener during my whole career, that is what makes me happy.
Autumn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Autumn Eve and I am an independent hard rock artist in Dallas, TX.
I got struck to the heart by rock music out of nowhere one day while the radio was playing at home. I must have been about 7 years old. We never listened to the radio in my house. So I remember walking into my brother’s room, drawn to the sound. Creed was on the radio and I’ll never forget hearing him sing //Hold me now, I’m six feet from the edge and I’m thinkin…// but all of a sudden, my mom walks in the room with a scowl. She said sternly, “No ma’am! We are not listening to that! You turn that off right now.” We grew up in a very religious house. But that moment of hearing hard rock pierced my heart as a child, forever leaving an impression I couldn’t shake. Little did my mom know I would grow up to be a metal head one day haha.
Part of what I do outside of singing and writing my own rock album is: Voice Lessons & Artist Development Coaching. I provide voice lessons, direction, advice, and help map out a path for new artists who need help getting started. I really enjoy working with people who want to learn how to write a song, how to book shows, need to build their confidence, want someone to talk to to map out their personal branding, connecting them to producers, and so much more. One of my focuses is teaching beginner vocalists how to sing super loud. We go over exercises where they project their voice until students can belt it out like Adele. I love watching people who never knew they could sing loud grow confident in their own voice.
I love connecting with hard rock/metal listeners and people who just want to learn how to sing. So please reach out to me on instagram or Facebook and let’s stay connected. I can help you reach your music goals, actually make progress with your dream, bring your vision to life clearly according to your preferences. It’s a lot of fun so please reach out if you would like someone to cheer you on and help you get started on your creative path.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes! I cannot recommend enough the book “Boundaries” by Henry Cloud & Townsend. This book changed my life and helped me in every area of life: including how to operate healthily in a band, as a solo artist collaborating with producers or potential record labels, and truly focusing on myself and taking my work seriously. “Boundaries” helped me learn that I wasn’t crazy for feeling upset when a videographer missed the agreed upon deadline and was trying to make me feel bad for it. It takes guts to create something and be a musician, and even more guts to know how to work with others.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe that one of the best things we can do to help artists is always connect them to someone who you may know that could help invest in them. Maybe your second cousin works for Atlantic records. Send your best friend’s single to him. Maybe you have a great venue that could be used for an artist’s next music video. Invest the opportunity into them. Networking should always be about love, promoting others, creation, and connection. Society can support artists by thinking of who and what they can connect them with.
