Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Austin Henderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Austin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?

I wish I had started performing and taking music more seriously at an earlier age! I feel like I would be alot further than I am in my career although I have done a ton of amazing things and have gotten to meet some amazing people! But when I started writing when I was 13 it was really just a way to vent, i never really put it in my brain that I could gain a following and share my story and truth be told I never truly thought anybody would care about my story, as i got older my mindset changed and i realized I could be the example artists need to get up and work their butt off every day.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

D3CADE is a brilliant and talented rapper from Oklahoma. His real name is Cade Henderson and he’s twenty nine years old. Cade was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida, which caused his spinal cord to grow outside of his back. Cade’s mother was told that he’d never be able to walk or talk. Cade started walking when he was two years old and started talking before that. Cade’s lost his father to murder when he was just 13 months old. And he uses leg braces to walk around. To say that Cade’s life has been hard would be an understatement. But that never stopped Cade in any way. Cade has always been a warrior and has always fought through whatever stood in his way. He has had a dream of becoming an outstanding musician, and has been working towards that dream since he was 13 years of age. Music means everything to Cade because that’s what he loses himself to in order to fight back and make things work. Cade’s talent lies in being able to put a beat to anything that he can imagine and then writing the lyrics to express himself. Cade’s music is reflective of the tough life that he’s led, so prepare to have your heart broken by this promising talent straight from Oklahoma.

The one main thing I’d like potential new supporters to know is that what you see is what you get with me in every way, I take what I do very seriously and my true goal is to just share my story and hope that it helps atleast one person everyday, my mission is accomplished if i can wake up and do that everyday and have the time of my life while doing it! Im nothing without my supporters and I’ve said that from the start. Last thing I want to say is thank you all and i love you all who do choose to support me!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

procrastination, I use to be a huge procrastinator. The back story is pretty simple really haha, the music business and procrastination will never mix together because there are so many people who want to be in the music industry. You have to wake up hungry everyday no matter what level you are on. I know millionaires who are still working as hard as they can as if they have zero dollars in their bank account, bottom line if you want it go work for it by any means! Don’t procrastinate like I did its only time wasted that could have been used on your creative work.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me its seeing people’s faces and reactions when i get on stage in a wheelchair and do what i do, children’s faces light up when they see me perform and grown men will be walking past and stop in their tracks to watch, it’s a very fulfilling feeling. There’s no real true way to explain what it is like to be on a stage with screaming fans! It is truly an experience you just have to experience for yourself to truly understand how amazing it is. I love interacting with the fans the most so that’s what id say is most rewarding.
