We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aurelie Carp. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aurelie below.
Hi Aurelie, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Golden Night Photography is actually my first names together…I am adopted and my birth mother named me Aurelie and my mother named me Layla. Aurelie meaning Golden and Layla meaning Night. It just worked out so well!

Aurelie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So I came across becoming a photographer, after being used as a model in a styled shoot by one of my now close photographer friends! She honestly found me the way most of us find each other now, on Instagram. I was so excited I have never done anything like the before and it was just such a postive and magical experience, I feel in love with it right away!
I will say when I was much younger I always wanted to work in movies, I wanted to create my own story and be able to make art, then in high school I was always the friend taking all the photos, trying to capture every second of our time together.
I truly started my business on pure delusion and stubbornness. I have never done anything like this before, working all kind of odd jobs trying to find my way in life, I just kept watching a ton of youtube videos, got my first camera, took photos of friends to start, the doing mentorships and began working with the women who got me hooked to this new world and so on.
As far as discipline…I have very little hahaha, I just keep learning and growing from my errors and try my best this time, and the next.
I would say this that sets me apart from others is my light heart, I know things in the world are so intense and so hard, I just make sure when people are with me…we don’t have to feel that. When my clients come to me they know they are in safe hands and we are gonna have a ball when working together.
Im most proud of me… and really struggle believing Im doing this, I always feel like a kid and just pretending to be a grownup but being a photographer lets me make my magic and helps me feel all of the worlds goodness.
No matter what age I have been, I have always chosen to create a world of magic and splendor, but it wasn’t until I got a taste of the magic that is photography where I really felt like I found my way as a storyteller. There is real magic in creating an irresistible spellbinding tail with just one photo, and I can’t wait to create! We all deserve those special moments, those magical times, sometimes rare seconds where we feel seen, appreciated, and truly adored. Those are the moments that I love and I plan on capturing, I want to make my clients feel absolutely magical.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Just one of the most basic lessons that I unlearned was that I am wonderful, strong, beautiful and everything all at once, and every person, tv screen, bully, stranger on the street who told me different was a moron! We are so much more than the we give ourselves created for and feeling so out of place most of my life to grown into the person I am today is and feels amazing.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
