We were lucky to catch up with Aura E. Martinez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Aura, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company, Live to the Max™/Viva al máximo™, came about because it is my mission to help thousands upon thousands of women (& men too since I have had male clients) live their most purposeful life, one that is fully in alignment with their true essence, where they experience daily fulfillment & know how to master themselves so they can master their life.
It is my sincere belief that the more we know and understand ourselves deeply and the more we learn to master ourselves, the more we can master our life and enjoy greater levels of well-being on every level.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who don’t know me yet, I’m a Self-Discovery & Empowerment Coach, helping women gain total clarity in their purpose so that they can wake up to daily fulfillment and certainty. I am the creator of the Aura Blueprint™, which is the process that I guide my clients through in order for them to get their breakthrough. I am also the author of the book “Creating a Lifetime of Wellness: Start Having the Life You Deserve”.
What led me to do the work that I currently do is that I first started out as a Wellness & Life Coach, helping people get out of the sugar rollercoaster that they would find themselves in. What I realized through my client’s (and my own journey of weight loss) is that the clients didn’t need a menu plan nor to be told what exercises to do. The main issue was their relationship with food, their body, and themselves and that’s when I realized that if we go to the core of who we really are & truly understand ourselves, that’s when we can literally & simultaneously transform several areas of us & our life and that’s what led me down the path of being a Self-Discovery & Empowerment Coach.
I offer 1-on-1 coaching programs such as a 90-day Discover You program, which is tailored to whatever it is that the client is wanting to transform in their life & wanting clarity on; a 90-day The Roadmap program, which is more specific in really helping people gain clarity as to learning how to understand their own inner map & obtaining more direction from their inner being; and a 30-day Elevate You program.
I also offer self-study courses for those looking to transform their life and wanting to do it on their own. For those wanting to learn how to manage their emotions, I offer the self-study course “Your Frustration IS Your Liberation: Make This Feeling Work For You”. For those wanting to learn how to be their own happy place, I offer the self-study course “Be Your Own Happy Place: How to Find Inner Happiness During Times Like These”. For those wanting to learn how to unlock the magic of gratitude in their life, I offer the self-study course “Living With Gratitude: Master the Art of Goodness”. For those wanting to uplevel their life, I offer the self-study course “Step Up to Level Up: Make This YOUR Time to Create Your Life By Design”.
So, as you can see, there is so much for one to start & continue their journey of personal growth.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started my coaching business, I didn’t realize how much I would have to unlearn in order to make this a successful business and this is also the reason why I do the work I do because I can deeply appreciate the role that personal development and inner work have in our life.
I had to unlearn the limitations that had been placed within me. I had to unlearn the belief that I wasn’t good enough. As an Afro-Latina, there are many things I had to unlearn, societal and cultural conditionings, that I didn’t realize at the time, didn’t allow me to move forward in life in a way that would lead to my success. This is why I say that every outer transformation first starts with an inner transformation. There is no other way around this.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I started my entrepreneurial journey, it took a lot of resilience to keep going. It took resilience to keep going when I knew my business needed a shift & at first I couldn’t figure out what that shift was. It took resilience to keep going at times I faced rejection whenever I proposed a workshop. It took resilience to keep believing in my vision even when things were going so slow in business. If there is one thing that this journey has taught me is that any challenge is actually an opportunity to look within & really understand what the challenge is wanting to show me.
